Forever Autumn Lyrics - Moody Blues

Review The Song (15)

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here

I WATCH the birds fly south across the Autumn sky
And one by one they DISAPPEAR
I wish that I was flying WITH them
Now you're not here

Like the SUN through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on the breeze you blew away

Through Autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
Cause you're not here (x3)
(Instrumental break)
Like the SUN through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on the breeze you blew away

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My life will be forever Autumn
Cause you're not here (3x)
(Instrumental break)
Cause you're not here (3x)
(short instrumental)
Cause you're not here, (fade out)

an over looked song | Reviewer: James Clemens | 11/28/13

Gorgeous music, beautiful lyrics masterfully sang by Justin Hayward. Could be the best interpretation of lost love during the seventies. Or other decades thereafter. Sorry to say, this is not an original Moody Blues tune although it is performed at current shows. Justin performs this song without the help of John Lodge and Graeme Edge.
I think this song is timeless.

Not the Moody's! | Reviewer: New York Bob | 11/22/13

A beautiful song written and orchestrated by Jeff Wayne. Yes, Justin did his typically masterful job on vocals. The rest of the Moody Blues had nothing to do with this. Sorry. But credit where credit due.

Simply brilliant | Reviewer: Isaac | 2/5/13

The lyrics, the music, the voice create the most amazing images in my mind. It's an emotional roller coaster that transcends time and space and feelings and memories and magical moments ... this ia a profoundly beautiful song, an amazing labour of love. I can listen to it endlessly ... ... perhaps its songs like these that have made the Moody Blues one of my all time favourite bands

Best Autumn song ever! | Reviewer: Jasmine | 12/12/12

I love the lyrics and it makes you want to just cry, especially the perfect string work. I watched my brother drown in an autumn pool and this song reminds me of hhim so much, but in a good way because although he isn't here that moment was strangely beautiful. Love you Tom xxx

Brought me to tears.... | Reviewer: Tom Bower | 3/2/12

I was watching the Moody Blues Greek Theater concert on Netflix. I had forgotten about this song. I lost my wife of twenty-four years six months ago. This line brought it all back:

"The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here"

New meaning | Reviewer: CS | 9/23/11

I had heard this song many, many years ago and loved it... Just heard again on a local station, on the first day of autumn, and suddenly it has new meaning to me... 4 years ago I lost my 18 year old son in an auto accident in September... This time of year has been dificult with the changing seasons and this song reflects the pain so well... Bittersweet, haunting, heart-felt...

Music that stirs the soul... | Reviewer: Marc | 12/2/10

The reviewers before me all relate the same experience; this is simply a magical piece that came together in all the right ways and stands as a timeless creation. Astounding how much raw emotion it evokes from me, the sweetest sorrow...

IDK how to describe this. | Reviewer: Madelyn | 11/7/10

My title says it all. This song is just amazing. It gets me in a place, where just... it... I'm speechless. I love this song so much. I'm listening to it as I type this review. The lyrics are so deep, the melody so haunting... something as close to perfection as a song can get. (I believe there is no such thing as perfection, just extreme excellence) :")

The Most Touching Song I Have Ever Heard 2 | Reviewer: James Patrick McGrath | 8/28/10

Small corrections to my review of 10/28/2006:

All those names are behind me. I'm still Jim McGrath, CDP, and I can be found on Facebook. I have a mission: the salvation of the kind. Quentin Daniels has a middle name: "Eureka" and the narrator of Atlas Shrugged was not Ayn Rand. Allegory, anyone?

Never grow tired of this song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/11/09

I loved this song from the first time I heard it. Always been a HUGE Moody Blues fan, but this song touches me in a way no other song can. It is a true LOVE song in rememberence of a lost loved one, well, that is my take on it anyway.

Time and Again | Reviewer: Colette Marie | 10/23/08

There are few songs that I can listen to over and over, this is one of them. the Moody blues have an exceptional sound that soothes all levels of ache and pain. This song does that for me. It expresse through sound and lyric what i can't express myself. I will always adore the message it gives, and will never forget what it has meant to me.

A MOODY BLUE SECRET | Reviewer: C WAY | 9/28/08

SO OFTEN SONGS COME AND GO WITH NO REAL RECOGNITION. THIS IS ONE, HOPEFULLY, WITH THE PRODUCTION OF TIME TRAVELLER SET, MANY MORE WILL COME TO KNOW AND LOVE THIS SONG. A GREAT BALLAD AND LYRICS, THAT ALL WHO HAVE SUFFERED A LOSS CAN RELATE TO.

True Love | Reviewer: Bonnie Tamkin | 1/10/08

One must wonder, shall I ever exoerience true love in my life? The question is a good one but has no answer unless an answer or a territory of answers exist. Listen to tthe Moody Blues, experience the sweet tenderness of Justin Hayward and the others in the band. If this music does not move you, in an important way, then do not be discouraged. Yes, it is true that this music in rightfully considered the most romantic and genuinely so perhaps ever written. But fear not, your tune may be elsewhere for all the same, deep reasons....

Deeply Touching | Reviewer: Ryan | 9/8/07

This song brings me to tears all the time. It touches a very sore spot. The vocals is just perfect, the music as well.

I rarely give a song a 10 rating (10 being the best) and this gets it. A solid 10.

The Most Touching Song I Have Ever Heard | Reviewer: JIm McGrath, CDP | 10/28/06

I first heard this song on my first flight on an airliner. My wife and I were flying from New York to Orlando for my employer. I was surprised by the beauty of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, and was most pleased to hear Justin's voice now and again. Then came Forever Autumn. Fantastic! The song still reaches me to this day. I long for my beloved ex-wife and Justin moves me every time I hear this song.

Rose Anne and I chose "Nights in White Satin" for our first dance as a married couple. Only a few months later, and here I was, flying to a beachside condominium in Cocoa Beach with her by my side and hearing an uncredited Moody Blues song.

Justin has lost sight of the fact that his beloved Ayn was no traitor to his aesthetic ideals, but a very tortured girl driven by her KGB masters.
She left a hint in Atlas Shrugged: there is a "minor" character named Quentin Daniels, whom John Galt trusted with his technology. Daniels was in reality a maverick evil hunter, a Dominion Angel of the Roman Catholic Church, who in the unwritten coda to the book, stands behind Galt and Taggart with sixguns pointed at their heads.

I will always adore you Justin; please try not to be so shy.

With all the Love I know how to give, Very Truly Yours,
