Wow man. you have no idea what this song is even based off of. For Whom the Bell Tolls is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1940. It tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American in the International Brigades attached to a republican guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. As a dynamiter, he is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia. Hemingway biographer Jeffrey Meyers writes that the novel is regarded as one of Hemingway's best works, along with The Sun Also Rises, The Old Man and the Sea, and A Farewell to Arms.

let's get back to what's most important. this song. Were hear to review the song. I like all the bands so lets cut this out. I love this song so much. Metallica truely did a good job with this. It's one of my favorites from ride the lightning. Heck i LOVE the ENTIRE album.

I simply don't understand it. The bands have all ended their feuds with each other but why can't their fans?

If Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax can all get up on the same stage and perform together multiple times then the fans of all these bands should be able to get along. I love all four of the Big Four, so why can't all the other thrash fans out there love them all too?

it doesnt matter whether megadeath or metallica or judas priest or nirvanna or alice in chains or slayer or disturbed is better. they are all metal bands, and they are all fighting commercialism and modern music. somebody oncce said that nobody ever wins in a civil war. we should be fighting the beiberheads, and all those people out there listening to the real crap like coldplay and beiber and green day.

Coming from a guy who hates metallica... what's so wrong with "mainstream?" Even if they are more mainstream, that is still their choice right? It isn't to fit it, it's to play what they want to play.

Metallica had 9 kick ass albums in a fucking row, and soon to be 10! megadeth is really really good but i think that metallica takes the cake on this one cuz they tried their best to keep all members of the band in, as megadeth just kicked almost all of them out at a drop of a hat.

both bands are awesome. and i think, it was the best thing for metallica and megadeth that dave got kicked out. without that, we would never have megadeth and that would just suck. and who knows how different metallica wouldve been? plus, just think that if dave would have stayed. it wouldnt have been forever. him, and metallica mainly james and lars, would have clashed at some point with the direction they wanted to go musically. personally, metallica is my favorite but megadeth trails just below them. theyre both badass, metallica just really has more songs.

Re: Fool. I'm not here to argue deth vs tallica, but the whole point of Megadeth was to BE faster, better, louder, angrier, and so on than Metallica after they kicked Dave out. So while you're right in that music isn't about that, you should know that without that attitude from whiny bitches like Dave Mustaine we would never have had Megadeth. Having said that, Rust in Peace is the greatest thrash album of all time in my opinion and Mustaine is an axe-machine. Oh and Metallica may not have stayed "true" to the thrash genre in the 90s, but neither did Megadeth... when was the last time you listened to Cryptic Writings (a good album)? There ain't no thrash in there either. I guess my overall opinion on the matter is that both bands released a handful of incredible albums and then went a little sour in the 90s. One more comment about Megadeth keeping loyal to the genre of thrash...Mustaine won't even play Black Friday live any more. How's that for loyalty?

i have to say, after reading most comments and a certain comment. Dave was kicked out of Metallica because he was a stupid drug addict, his tough sh*t. Kirk is a great guitarist, not the best but still great, maybe dave is better? does it really matter? Kirk still does amazing and isnt a drug f*cked loser. Megadeth vs Metallica is a stupid argument, its all a matter of opinion, and if you feel the need to have a winner, go Look up who has more songs on the radio and youtube for example, who look at how many views metallica songs get compared to megadeth. I just will say that anyone who dares to compare any band, is an ignorant, in music is not about whos better, faster or anything, in sports it is, music is about have the vision n skill to put what you feel into your music, these both bands had accomplished that, even MEtallica whit the Load n Reload records, or with st. anger, most ppl didnt like it but if thats what they tryed to accomplish they did it.
