For Miles Lyrics - Thrice

Review The Song (10)

I know one day, all our scars will disappear, like the stars at dawn
And all of our pain, will fade away when morning comes
And on that day when we look backwards we will see, that everything is changed
And all of our trials, will be as milestones on the way

And as long as we live, every scar is a bridge to someone's broken heart
And there's no greater love, than that one shed his blood for his friends

On that day all of the scales will swing to set all the wrongs to right
All of our tears, and all of our fears will take to flight
But until then all of our scars will still remain, but we've learned that if we'll
Open the wounds and share them then soon they start to heal

As long as we live, every scar is a bridge to someone's broken heart
And there's no greater love, than that one shed his blood for his friends

We must see that every scar is a bridge, and as long as we live
We must open up these wounds
When some one stands in your shoes and will shed his own blood
There's no greater love. We must open up our wounds

There is no right and wrong | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/23/13

Their reviews are not wrong... Just because you see and hear a different interpretation does not make you any smarter or more right than others. I'm sure we can all debate about what the lyrics mean but nobody truly knows other than dustin and those who he has told. Even if that is what this song is about, all music (just like all art) is open to interpretation.

his blood for his friends | Reviewer: his blood for his friends | 12/26/12

I really like this song too. But I think the message is more complex than you're hitting on. Our scars come from our pain. We must open our own scars to empathize with others going through pain. Its painful for us to dig deeper into our scars (shed our blood for our friends) but it builds eternal bridges of connection between us and our fellowman and it helps us all heal.

you've all missed it. this song is about war and the aftermath. the terrible decisions bush made to drag us into war, and the wounds of PTSD and physical wounds and death we need to tend to upon return.

Awesome SONG! | Reviewer: God's Messenger!!! XP | 3/20/11

I love Thrice. they are absolutely fantastic! Great music is like the language of the angels! Well, if there is screamo in heaven (i hope so!). I love screamo with a burning passion, because that is exactly what screamo bands have: BURNING PASSION. or some other kind of emotion set on fire. MUSIC=LIFE! CHRIST=LIFE! see how perfectly they go together? XP

they're not Christian | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/10/10

Thrice isn't a "Christian band" but they allow Dustin to write about faith, a lot of their songs are Christian, like "Come all you weary" "Children of dust" "Image of the invisible" but they're not to be labeled as Christian. Though they most definitely write about Christian faith. And just to put it out there, Thrice is really well rounded if you listen to the entire discography XD one of my fav bands evverrr

Love Love Love This | Reviewer: Beth | 10/13/09

I absolutely love this song. The lyrics especially get to me. "and there's no greater love, than that one shed his blood for his friends" They may not actually say they are Christians, but that is definitely scripture. (John 15:13)

Great, powerful song | Reviewer: Colin Dennard | 8/22/09

This is one of my favorite songs by Thrice. While they are not a "christian band", this song is undeniably about Jesus and his forgiveness to humans and is also Dustin professing his Christian beliefs. Some may even consider this a worship song and I would find that understandable. "And there's no greater love than the one who shed his blood for his friends" is a very powerful line about Jesus being crucified that always gives me chills every time I hear it. Thank you, Thrice for writing songs like these. They really are helping people! God bless you all!

Great song | Reviewer: Eysteinn from Iceland | 11/22/07

this song is amazing in so many ways, definately thrice at it's best in my opinion. I agree with everything Ricky Colombo said in his review, very will put on his part. The song gives a sense of hope for a better future, a judgement day for people who have endured any sort of pain. Amazing, beautiful, and as a whole, a great song.

Amazing | Reviewer: Ricky Colombo | 6/27/07

This song is awesome. This song talks about how we will be lifted from all the worldy pain, "I know one day, all our scars will disappear." When we die, those who go to heaven, will have all their pain taken away. Like the song says, untill then we have to help each other by looking at the scars (emotional pain) of others and helping them. I like when they say, "Someone stands in your shoes and will shed his own blood there's no greater love." The chorus is straight from John 15:13
