I myself struggle with addiction still to this day. This song makes me feel a little better sometimes...other times it makes me curl up into a ball and cry my eyes out, while i sit, talking with my friend who is no longer here. is that weird? hmm.. this song as alot of Elliot Smith's other songs has inspired me to create some amazing artwork though. so i guess all in all, all i can say is thanks. he brought us these tragic and twisted lyrics to do as we please and for that i will forever be greatful. The song is something great to listen to whike trying to cope with a loss. Sad the song is, but you can relate to every word that is sung by Elliott. When I was in high school I was addicted to all kinds of drugs and it got really bad. I could relate my life to this song in so many ways. Not only did this song help me see myself in a new light during my addiction, but helps me stay sober to this day. When I hear it, its really brings me back to how I felt back in those days, and reminds me I never want to feel that way again.
