First Of The Gang To Die Lyrics
Artist(Band):Morrissey
Review The Song (8)Print the Lyrics
You have never been in love,
Until you've seen the stars,
reflect in the resevoirs

And you have never been in love,
Until you've seen the dawn rise,
behind the home for the blind

We are the pretty petty thieves,
And you're standing on our street..

...where Hector was the first of the gang
with a gun in his hand
and the first to do time
the first of the gang to die. Oh my.
Hector was the first of the gang
with a gun in his hand
and the first to do time
the first of the gang to die. Oh my.

You have never been in love,
Until you've seen the sunlight thrown
over smashed human bones

We are the pretty petty thieves,
And you're standing on our street..

...where Hector was the first of the gang
with a gun in his hand
and the first to do time
the first of the gang to die. Such a silly boy.
Hector was the first of the gang
with a gun in his hand
and a bullet in his gullet
and the first lost lad to go under the sod.

And he stole from the rich and the poor
and the not-very-rich and the very poor
and he stole all hearts away
he stole all hearts away
he stole all hearts away
he stole all hearts away

I agree :D | Reviewer: Clover | 12/26/2007

This song is one of Morrissey's greatest songs as a solo artist, along with "Jack The Ripper". I love this song and it's imagery. I can definitely say that nobody can ever be in love if they haven't heard Morrissey's voice. Morrissey stole all hearts away. - Clover P.S This song is from the 2004 album "You Are The Quarry"

What can you say? | Reviewer: sme | 1/28/2005

What can you say, First of the Gang to Die is the best thing Moz has done since Suedehead! Its that simple. I work in a music store and its amazing how many non-moz, non-smiths fans that this song has won over! What more can you say about it? Obviously the boy moz can done no wrong, but You are the Quarry is , i think, his most complete solo album! BUY IT!!!!!
