Fake Messiah Lyrics - Lamb Of God

Review The Song (5)

Everything you've ever begged me to be
Could never have meant any less to me
Everything you've ever asked me to say
It's so far away from the truth
So far away from the truth
So far away

Fake Messiah
Stitches sewn in your eyes
Fake Messiah
Prophecy now denied

Over and over and never again
Defending your insignificance
Useless intent hidden behind your mask
A cowards voice... Anonymous
So far away from the truth
So far away

Fake Messiah
Stitches sewn in your eyes
Fake Messiah
Prophecy now denied
Fake Messiah
Open mouth, drawing flies
Fake Messiah
Prophecy now denied

Generation failure.
Suspended in irrelevance.
Slit you wide open
Just to see what you're made of
So far away from the truth...

Fake Messiah
Stitches sewn in your eyes
Fake Messiah
Prophecy now denied
Fake Messiah
Open mouth, drawing flies
Fake Messiah
Prophecy now denied

According to Randy, the lyrics are about bad blood between the band and an old ex-friend, so they are personal...we will never really know the subtle meanings. Anyways, considering half the lyrics are unintelligible in the recordings, I always get more of a kick out of HOW he sings them, rather than their meaning...it's not Shakespeare, but I think Wrath is probably the most dynamic of the albums, vocally, and most intense, musically. I've searched extensively for something similar in vocal dynamics (the growls, yells, screaches) and still haven't found much...maybe Devon Townsend? Randy has my utmost respect as a vocalist.

I'd say that, while this is one of Lamb of God's slightly poorer songs lyrics wise, there isn't such a trend really, and "In Your Words", "Dead Seeds", Contractor", "Broken Hands" and "Shoulder of your God", from Wrath, off or Wrath, are some of my favourite songs in existance, lyrics wise; so are "Beating on Death's Door", "Forgotten (Lost Angels)" and "Walk With Me in Hell" from Sacrament. Really, I think Lamb of God have been a fucking awesome band lyrics-wise ever since the Palaces era.

u guys stupid? | Reviewer: gibbee | 9/12/09

ok srsly... wats with the arguements? slipknot rocks. as does Lamb of god, and metallica and megadeth and almost all metal bands out there. i listen to any metal, so i know how different deathmetal is to numetal, and blackmetal, and soforth. so u cant just compare a band to a band of a totally dif genre. ppl say joey jordison sux at drums. he doesnt. he plays what goes right with the music. thats what it is all about. playing what fits. seriously, get the fuck over urselves. music is PREFERENCE. if it makes u want to jerk off or get horney u just have issues tho...

i think the fact that they're taking songs in new directions is better than staying on the same thing...cos after awhile dosn't the same kinda style (no matter how complicated) get boring. a good mix is needed i think

Personally i think their songs are getting less complicated lyrically and more complicated instrumentally and i don't like it... I miss the more complex songs like Remorse is for the Dead... Songs where the lyrics weren't repeated over and over again.
