At first this song was about one of James Hetfields previous Girlfriends. However he forgot the whole thing and now metallica said "The song is for there fans." No. The Song 'Master of Puppets' Is about how drugs can control your life and there YOUR master while you are the puppet. This shows how drugs have complete control of your life. It's far from a bad meaning.
