Faceless Man Lyrics - Creed

Review The Song (9)

I spent a day by the river
It was quiet and the wind stood still
I spent some time with nature
To remind me of all that's real
It's funny how silence speaks sometimes when you're alone
And remember that you feel
I said it's funny how silence speaks sometimes when you're alone
And remember that you feel
Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man
Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man

Now I saw a face on the water
It looked humble but willing to fight
I saw the will of a warrior
His yoke is easy and His burden is light

He looked me right in the eyes
Direct and concise to remind me
To always do what's right
He looked me right in the eyes
Direct and concise to remind me
To always do what's right

Again I stand. Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man
Again I stand. Lord, God I stand,
against the Faceless Man

'Cause if the face inside can't see the light
I know I'll have to walk alone
And if I walk alone to the other side
I know I might not make it home

Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man
Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man

Next time I see this face
I'll say I choose to live for always
So won't you come inside And never go away
Next time I see this face
I'll say I choose to live for always
So won't you come inside And never go away

Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man
Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man
Again I stand, Lord I stand,
against the Faceless Man

Faceless Man is just that: a man who has lost his identity | Reviewer: brandon | 5/13/13

the title of the song says it all: I think when they (tremonti and stapp) wrote this song it was personal, I believe that the schedule and demand of the rock band lifestyle got to them and they literally spent a day with nature to purge all the distractions of the world and to feel the Holy Spirit and to be still and know that God is in control. then as he looks on the water and sees he realizes that without God he wont make it home but with him he will make it home. this song is about being accountable to God and having the courage to admit it and to ask the Lord to come back into your heart and never go away... there are some biblical references in the lyrics and the part I love most about this song and album is all throughout Creed is talking about taking action as a Christian, not just talking about it, but doing it; I know this: if the devil cant get you with sin, he will keep u busy, and I believe Mark and Scott were writing about not having God enough in their heart and wanted to make sure to have an identity with God and not to be a Faceless Man. I love the way the album is arranged, the order of the songs were intentional, and I see the same with the band Alterbridge... if you haven't heard of them definitely check them out!

My interpretation for this song. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/2/11

This song is awesome!
I really like it no matter how you look at it.
It's a pretty deep song and I think it can relate to just about anybody. And the reason why I think that is because its a song about relationship. Guys, what I'm about to interpret in the words of this song is just my view of them everytime I hear them. So It may or it may not bring new light or meaning
to the song, but in any case I don't think you'll stop listening to it anyway.
Firstly:
I spent a day by the river (the river of life, "Jesus Christ")
It was quiet and the wind stood still (Christ brings peace and
rest)
I spent some time with nature (God's creations)
To remind me of all that's real (Proof of God's divine power
and existence)
It's funny how scilence speaks sometimes when your alone (temptations of the world without the presence of Christ)
And remember that you feel (your human, you will feel pain in a world destined to decay)
Again I stand, Lord I stand (again pursuing, admitting to the Lord, (Jesus), taking on faith)
Against the faceless man (the defeated ruler of the world who is the cause of all deceit and temptation, Satan)
Now I saw a face on the water (seeing the face of Jesus. Note: the bible is known to be like a mirror to the believer, it convicts the sinner and reflecting the image of Christ, thus he may be using 'water' as the 'Bible' and also possibly looking into the water reflecting the image of who he should be.)
It looked humble and willing to fight (humbleness: a huge portrail of Jesus' earthly ministry, 'willing to fight': the fight of Christian faith, hope and most importantly love)
I saw the will of a warrior (the determination of Christ, his hope for the survival of his people)
His yoke is easy and his burden is light (a direct passage from the Bible itself referring to faith and salvation)
He looked me right in the eyes
Direct and concise to remind me
To always do what's right
(the penetrating gaze and power of the lord as he is able to gaze into our hearts, 'eyes', and convict us, 'remind us', through the Holy Spirit, to walk in the way of righteousness)
'Cause if the face inside can't see the light (referring to the one who reside within you: Either the evil one, who does not see the light and will always abandon you or the Holy Spirit (Christ), who recognizes the light and will never abandon you)
I know I'll have to walk alone (in this case he refers to the evil one)
And if I walk alone to the other side (as in after death, 'other side')
I know I might not make it home (admitting his awareness that if the Holy Spirit is not present within him he will not enter the gate to the Kingdom of Heaven, 'home')
Next time I see this face (the tempter, the abandoner, the false hope)
I'll say I choose to live for always (chooses eternal life through Christ)
So won't you come inside and never go away (the acceptance of Christ in his life as savior, to make his home in and dwell forever within until the end of age, 'second coming')

And there it is, thanks for reading guys, God Bless.

Not about God? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/15/11

I would have to say that this unreal tune has at least a thing or two to do with God given its constant reference to the Lord, ie, "Lord, I stand......" Also, the words, "His yoke is easy, and His burden is light...." Delve into the Good Book and ye should examine those words written in red in Mathew 11:30.

In the song, he later sees this Face again saying, "so won't You come inside, and never go away..." I have to believe this is when Scotty is basically saying, "Jesus, come into my heart, be my Savior, and never leave me."

This is only my interpretation. I make no judgements of what others might suggest but, if nothing else, most will agree the song is unreal.

just another awesome number by them again... song basically talks about a person who is being betrayed by the ways of life as in whats goin with his life and he realises that its all useless for him to spend his time for the worldly things as they are all fake ... one of the line says " if I walk alone to the other side
I know I might not make it home " he is refering home to nothing but heaven....

It's all about you | Reviewer: Sammy | 5/29/09

This song has nothing to do with God. It is about the fight you have with yourself. Just choose and don not hold back because of fear and worry - CHOOSE TO LIVE!!!!.

It is one of the best songs ever.

Creed are back together (april 2009) and I'm gonna fly all the way to the US from Europe just to see them before they decide to break up again (altough Alter Bridge is a good band as well!)

my experience | Reviewer: daniel | 2/23/09

This great song remind me about my first meeting with God. It feels great. Is amazing how a few minutes in his presence makes you so happy. Feeling how misery, troubles and sorrows disappear like at the same time He speaks to you.

Faceless man | Reviewer: Ty | 12/5/08

i feel this song is more about understanding who u really are and not just excepting god into ur life but being able to forgive urself of all the wrongs u have commited in the past standing against a faceless man would b like standing in front of someone who has no understanding of who he/she really is. it takes a real man/woman to stand up and accept all the wrongs they commited and ask for forgiveness. he talks about spending a day by the water to just relax and think. he also says "It's funny how silence speaks sometimes when you're alone" i think he speaks of a persons concienss speaking out but thats just me and my opinion

I love this song. I am not religious at all but feel this song is talking about excepting God into your life. With out God in your life you are a faceless man.

This is a great song...I don't know why, but it gives me hope to continue living my life despite the misery and depression I have.
