Eyes Of The World Lyrics - Grateful Dead

Review The Song (5)

Right outside this lazy summer home
you ain't got time to call your soul a critic no.
Right outside the lazy gate of winter's summer home,
wond'rin' where the nut-thatch winters,
wings a mile long just carried the bird away.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin' brings,
But the heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own.

There comes a redeemer, and he slowly too fades away,
And there follows his wagon behind him that's loaded with clay.
And the seeds that were silent all burst into bloom, and decay,
and night comes so quiet, it's close on the heels of the day.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin' brings,

But the heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own,
And sometimes we visit your country and live in your home,
sometimes we ride on your horses, sometimes we walk alone,
sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
the heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin' brings,
But the heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own.

Soaring Tune | Reviewer: Karen Kenney | 3/26/13

This song is perhaps the sweetest and most uplifting tune ever written, and the flowing guitar riffs only bring it to it's peak. This song reminds me of the magic of creation and that every single second of life possesses it's own particular form of beauty.

UCS, 'Universal Casting Studio' | Reviewer: Barbara Cadwell | 10/28/12

Aside from always loving the Grateful Dead, I've written a soon-to-be published creative nonfiction book titled 'The Universal Casting Studio' and the leading lady receives a real spiritual uplift when she happens upon 'One From the Vault,' fast-forwards to the sixth cut, cranks the radio and plays 'Eyes of the World.' And life really is all about waking up to find that we are the eyes of the world!

Good flowin' tune | Reviewer: Ron | 6/6/07

I agree with the other Ron....reminds me of the 70's (while doing MDA)while flowing through life.

beautiful tune | Reviewer: Ron | 5/23/07

Reminds me of the 70's whilw doing a lot of MDA. You could see and feel every lyric/note and beat.

what a song | Reviewer: Sullytt | 7/28/04

The dead rocks... right now I'm listening to 7/8/90, 3 Rivers Stadium, a month before Brent dies. God, this band rocks.
