Every Mothers Son Lyrics - Traffic

Review The Song (3)

(Winwood/Capaldi)

Once again I'm northward bound, on the edge of sea and sky
Tomorrow is my friend, my one and only friend
We travel on together searching for the end

(Chorus:)
I'm a traveling soul and every mother's son
Although I'm getting tired I've got to travel on
Can you please help, my god? Can you please help, my god?
Can you please help, my god? I think it's only fair

Once again I'm northward bound, on the edge of sea and sky
Together we will go and see what waits for us
A backdoor to the universe, that old moondust.

(Chorus)

The beauty of this song is that you get instantly swept away by the melody - the instruments are so powerfully coordinated that you fall in love with it before you can figure out the lyrics!!

Thanks for finally bringing this great song all together for me as I continue to enjoy this great Traffic album!!

I looked at the lyrics for this song and was blown away by how few of the words I know. Considering that I've listened to the album at least 1,000 times since it came out when I was 14, I can only conclude that I must've smoked some pretty good stuff in the last 40 + years.

that old moondust | Reviewer: James Pentland | 6/16/07

First off, thank you for printing the correct lyric on the second verse, "that old moondust," not "that opens doors," which I found on several other sites and which makes no sense ... this song and the album whence it came, "John Barleycorn Must Die," cast a lifelong spell over me anyway as an impressionable 13-year-old exploring new musical horizons. Knowing "Every Mother's Son" is an overdub fest with the ridiculously talented and young (21 or 22) Stevie Winwood, in fine voice as ever, playing guitar, bass and organ takes nothing away from the listening experience -- the way the guitar and organ mesh is pure spine-tingling enjoyment. Viva Traffic!
