Do you think the modern songs today make sense? Of course not! So guys do not listen to the modern songs today that will give you a terrible headache.

I'm 66 yrs. old and remember hearing that song back in the day but was to busy trying to "survive" to really listen to the lyrics. It's the music that stuck in my mind and the only lyric I remember was "I'll be watching you.." I heard the entire song and lyrics today on an episode of Cold Case and it really touched my heart deeply. So I wanted to share...

This song is not about someone looking down from heaven, or a mother watching over a child, it is a song about a love who has left, and the singer does not want that.

Ownership, and heartache with each step away. The ownership shows it is not a love song of any kind, it is a song about possession.

On it's own this verse could be about someone who has died, except the rest of the song is about watching that person as they go about their lives. And the watching every move the person makes is not the behaviour of love, it is obsession.

The song is about obsession and possession, and we should all feel sorry for anyone who thinks that is love.

Contrary to belief, this song isn't about stalking. I watched an interview with Sting where the stalking topic was questioned, and he had no idea about it until recently, he thought of the song more as a mother watching over her child, and the love she gives. I really don't care what anyone says, I love this song, and I think it's very well written.

The lyrics though can be issue if put in actual practice. Till the time it is not I thing we should listen and enjoy this classic song, the guitar....I fell in love with the song the first time heard it...!!

i hate this song, everytime i hear it i wont to kill myself, police needs shouting ,really my 5 year old would be able to do a better song then this, and heaven k well theres one word to describe you SAD!

This song is one of my all time favourites. I never get sick of hearing it. My father bought me Synchronicity for Xmas in '83 and this song was the first I listened to. It's simple and you will never forget it.

...but I bet most of the people have experienced love that in one point does feel like stalking. Unrequited or just so strong that it makes you feel like you can't get enough of that person. So it's about stalking but also describes love kinda well imo. Or maybe my love is just obsessive :D
