Following accusations by a Muslim cleric that Christians had committed blasphemy, angry Muslims attacked Christians’ houses in Bhamniwala village in Kasur, one of the districts in the province of Punjab , Pakistan , ANS has learned. The attack left some 50 Christian houses critically damaged as the Muslims had used petrol and acid to torch Christians’ houses. According to details obtained by ANS a Christian man named Sardar Masih, who was driving a tractor, had been intercepted by one Muhammad Riaz and his Muslim friends on June 29. When the Christian man asked why he was being intercepted, the Muslim men said that they would teach him a lesson later. The Muslim men attacked the Christian man’s house on the eve of June 29 and beat him severely. Adding fuel to the fire, Qari Latif, a local Muslim cleric on June 30 gave the incident a religious color by announcing from the local mosque that the Christians of the village had committed blasphemy and allegedly incited Muslims to avenge it. Some 150 Christian families reside in the village that came under Muslims’ attack on June 30. Over 500 outraged Muslims attacked the Christians’ houses on June 30. They manhandled Christians, ransacked their houses and attempted to burn all the Christian houses in the village. At least 50 Christian families have been rendered homeless as their valuables and belongings have been either plundered or torched by the Muslim mob. Rasheed Jalal, has condemned the fresh attack on Christian villagers and termed it as a "heinous crime." He has called for the immediate arrest of culprits. I wondered how to get the strength to go back, tho I had loved our life...I was just bone, deep-soul weary and so was my husband... We were speaking at one of our supporting churches in South Holland IL and this was the worship song --I sang it with tears flowing and I actually experienced God's strength in my heart and body as we sang.
