Eternal oath was formed in 1991.

The first line-up consisted of drummer Ted Jonsson,
vocalist Joni äensivu, guitarist Petri Tarvainen and
bass-player Ted Lundström. Daniel Dziuba soon became the
band´s 2:nd guitarist. In December of 1992 the band
recorded a 3-song demo at studio Lagret. A few months later
Ted Lundström left the band to join Amon amarth and Martin
Wiklander took his place. Due to the line-up change, the
demo was never released. Almost a year later, in October of
1993, the band entered studio Lagret again and recorded the
5-song demo "Art of darkness". The response was good and
they started to get a name in the underground scene.
