Elvis in Concert Rrview | Reviewer: Mike Ord | 8/21/11
Some of this double album forms most of the soundtrack of the King's last TV show & other songs are from some of his latter concerts in the June 1977 tour. It is a mixture of tragedy & triumph. His poor physical condition comes through in a number of renditions yet at other times he rises to the occasion & does fine powerful versions of songs like how Great Thou Art and Hurt. It's a pity his strong version of Unchained Melody from one of these concerts was omitted from this double album.
I Remember Feeling Sad | Reviewer: Michael Flynn | 11/9/09
The Elvis in Concert album came out not long after his death. I recall feeling really sad when I heard it. Included is the "I forgot the words" Are You Lonesome Tonight track, that alone is still hard to listen to. Still, it's Elvis and we love him still. I'm still waiting for Elvis on Tour to be released with an accompying cd...COME ON!
There are high points in this mess | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/25/07
A physical mess, Elvis sounds out of breath and uninterested in many of the tracks on this live album. Jailhouse Rock comes immediately to mind as a song he's just tired of doing. The King sounds sluggish and doped up. Almost like he has no choice but to do this show. I love the king but this album probably should have been scrapped. There are parts of this set that do show what Elvis' incredible voice is capable of. "My Way", "You Gave Me a Mountain" & the old Sun record "Tryin' to Get to You" are as good as they ever were here.
