------ About the song Skyline Pigeon performed by Elton John

As a child, hearing this song always gave me a feeling of freedom. I used to imagine myself flying like a bird, free to go any place I wanted to. Elton is one of my favorite artists and this is certainly one of his best songs.

------ About the song Indian Sunset performed by Elton John

I heard this song when it first came out....it was beautiful then; and beautiful now. Our country was founded by our forefathers so we could be free. We never extended that freedom to our Indian brothers and sisters. Today, so many of us have a problem with immigrants....perhaps we should speak to the first Americans about that. I wonder, what would they have to say? I think Chief Joseph said it all: "I will fight no more forever." And Elton: "peace to this young warrior comes with a bullet's hole".

------ About the song High Flying Bird performed by Elton John

I am 51 now- and If you give up your dreams for someone else- you, too, will be lamenting wishing you had followed your dreams. I do not even remember any of mine- I was too busy with 3 kids at 20 and I guess I just lost myself in everyone elses dreams and lives...
Do not let this happen to you...Please dream your own dream and try with all your might to reach for it...or someday- you will have no choice- to just accept things as they are-

...And WRITTEN by Bernie Taupin | Reviewer: Bill Beck
------ About the song Someone Saved My Life Tonight performed by Elton John

John and Taupin are my favorite song writer and lyricist combination of all time. I love this song. I love singing it, and I especially love hearing it. Elton is brilliant, clearly. But the hero of this work of art of Bernie Taupin. Think about this song when you hear it. Your mind is filled with elaborate images "muggy nights, curtains drawn in the little room downstairs..." Don't you imagine the color of the curtains? Don't you imagine the texture? Red velvet perhaps. "Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair..." The images are rich. Brilliant. You can almost smell the food on the oak table and taste the thick, heavy air. Bernie Taupin's lyrics are a feast for the mind's eye. The song goes from image to image, with brilliant changes in level by Elton John. Every time I hear, "so save your strength, and run the field you play alone...", I can see some English school boy in front of some castle of a private school on the pitch, in his football uniform as the camera pans away as if shot from a helicopter to demonstrate the child's isolation. As I understand the song, it had to do with some former female fiancé of John's who towered over him in height, "and stunted by your haunted social scene. Just a pawn outplayed by a dominating queen..." As I understand it, John was headed for marriage to this woman, and the relationship was ended, thus saving his life. "Slip-noose hanging in my darkest dreams..." Brilliantly sung, and most brilliantly written.

------ About the song Your Song performed by Elton John

Elton John's 'Your Song' is a great song(musical masterpiece). I can't remember, I heard a better love song than this song. Though It's 41 years old but still remains fresh and modern. I don't think anybody in this world would hate this beautiful song.

Frantic piano | Reviewer: Jasmin
------ About the song Ticking performed by Elton John

My Dad sat me on his knee when I was about 6 years old, cranked the volume up, and told me to close my eyes and REALLY listen to this song. The frantic piano and pleading lyrics look me on an emotional roller coaster that I'd never forget. This song, in my opinion, presents the most stunning combination of lyrics and music which puts you right in the heart of the story- particularly at the point where he steps out from the bar and is shot down by the waiting police. It might sound a little gruesome to encourage such a young child to listen to this song, but Dad did that with all great music and it's an education I appreciate and have such fond memories of to this day.

------ About the song Ticking performed by Elton John

The first time I heard Amanda Palmer's "Strength Through Music," I thought of this song. I wonder if she's heard it. I haven't heard it in years, but it really made an impression.

"It is so simple
The way they fall
No cry, no whimper
No sound at all
Tick tick tick tick tick"
