Ella Fitzgerald Lyrics

Few artists stand as the very definition of the art they
practice, but Ella Fitzgerald is one of them. No jazz
singer can avoid being influenced by her, or at least
taking into account the monument of her work.
Fitzgerald didn't have the darkness of Billie Holiday, the
bravura of Sarah Vaughan or the acidity of Carmen McRae,
but what she did have was a suniness, a childlike joy and a
classic command of her craft that audiences picked up on
right away. Originally influenced by Connie Boswell, she
also swung like mad, and was one of More...

------ About the song Cow Cow Boogie performed by Ella Fitzgerald

first, let me say that i love ella fitzgerald's version of this song in more ways than i can count... but for purposes of this discussion, i find it interesting how un-P.C. the lyrics are, what with half-breeds, loco weed and a harlem touch.... the cowboy calls are very skat... don't you think?

guess it just goes to show you that everything is understood through the context of the time.

------ About the song Sophisticated Lady performed by Ella Fitzgerald

They say into your early life romance came
And in this heart of yours burned a flame
A flame that flickered one day and died away
Then, with disillusion deep in your eyes
You learned that fools in love soon grow wise
The years have changed you, somehow
I see you now
Smoking, drinking, never thinking of tomorrow, nonchalant,
Diamonds shining, dancing, dining with some man in a restaurant
Is that all you really want?
No, sophisticated lady,
I know, you miss the love you lost long ago
And when nobody is nigh you cry

------ About the song It's Only A Paper Moon performed by Ella Fitzgerald

The Song It's Only A Paper Moon lyrics dose not agree with the lyrics on Ella Fitzgerald's record. It is far off that I would have a problem to rewrite the lyrics. Your site is great and I love to use it to sing along with my records.

Thank you, and keep up the good work.

------ About the song Love For Sale performed by Ella Fitzgerald

A wonderful but tragic song about a girl (or boy) whose life has led them to one of prostitution. They give their "love" in exchange for the cold felt inside. This song gives a wonderful look into the psychology of someone for whom love has become nothing more than a job done daily. So many artist have done this song justice that it will continue to live on for generations to come.

Friday 19, February 2010 - 23:54/11:54: JUST to say I was watchin youtube earlier and i watched Jamilia Simon Nash's version of 'A Tisket, A Tasket' and no offence but it was much simpler and better than this version, because this version is difficult to sing on the verses! (Sorry!) :(

The Best of Porter | Reviewer: Mel Welles
------ About the song Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love) performed by Ella Fitzgerald

In saying the best of Porter, I am, of course, saying the best of the best. I am 88 and have beena Porter devotee for 76 of those years, Although not on the same level as "Begin The Begin" o "Night and Day" "Let's Do It" has always been my favorite. It is magnificently clever. The 3 linnes starting with "In shallow shoals English soles do it" are Porter at his very best.
