Electric Light Orchestra Lyrics

The Electric Light Orchestra's ambitious yet irresistible
fusion of Beatlesque pop, classical arrangements, and
futuristic iconography rocketed the group to massive
commercial success throughout the 1970s. ELO was formed in
Birmingham, England in the autumn of 1970 from the ashes of
the eccentric art-pop combo the Move, reuniting frontman
Roy Wood with guitarist/composer Jeff Lynne, bassist Rick
Price, and drummer Bev Bevan; announcing their intentions
to "pick up where 'I Am the Walrus' left off," the quartet
sought to embellish More...

Nightrider, am I | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Nightrider performed by Electric Light Orchestra

Sometime in the space of June 12 2011 to June 24, 2011, I became "Nightrider." It was an innocent enough game started by a friend, where we all chose nicknames and then he formally announced us as those names. After a moment of thought, I decided I was Nightrider. Yes, after this song, of course. I was already 10538 (as decided on February 1, 2011) but why not add to the collection of ELO nicknames? So somehow, I became the Nightrider, riding the night and searching for what is gone. I kept riding, searching, never finding what I was looking for. I showed my friend the song, and asked him if he could see why I was the Nightrider. Sadly, he too could see what I'd become: 10538 Nightrider, a fugitive from the self-designed prison inside my heart. But I'm happy as a fugitive - my quantum box isn't a good place to be. Love is more important than preserving yourself from heartbreak. Hurt is inevitable, but in the meantime, I can ride through the day and through the night, in search of the ever-elusive Sky......, who one day might turn around and smile back. 10538 Nightrider is alive and well, not planning on falling down to the rocks in the bay. Love is powerful, sustaining, and carries us all through the night but it's hard, painful, and full of potholes and pitfalls. However, the journey's well worth the scars. Sky......,if you can hear me, listen: you can't make the sun rise or set but you can dance in it's light all day. And when night comes, I'll be there, too, dancing in the forest under the moon.

Good grief people | Reviewer: CH (long time relative)
------ About the song Livin' Thing performed by Electric Light Orchestra

Song is about a man's love for a married woman. The "living thing" is a metaphor for the love they have created. Didnt you notice the female's lyrics "Im taken Im taken"? Or how about "and you and your sweet desire". Anti-abortion ? ... come on.

Beautiful song about a man being troubled by his decision to let a married woman go. Hence the lyrics :
"Ah so let her go don't start spoiling the show"

Thought this was settled years ago - writers always having their work twisted into some other's purposes.

I'm alive too | Reviewer: Leszek
------ About the song I'm Alive performed by Electric Light Orchestra

You even don't realise what it it really means.
Despite of having lost two gentlemen out of ELO band already now, their music will ALWAYS remain alive. Jeff Lynne takes honorous place along such noble composers like Haendel Strauss Beethoven and other continuers of ancient Greeks culture. No matter which alphabet Jeff's been sold with his mother's milk.

------ About the song Telephone Line performed by Electric Light Orchestra

I've loved ELO since, like a previous poster said, I was in the womb. Everything about their music is great. My dad is a huge fan, and it carried over to me. Their songs really speak to the soul and tell a story that touches thousands, which is something you don't get with modern music.

It's True | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Telephone Line performed by Electric Light Orchestra

Who could have guessed The Buggles could have been so prophetic with "video killed the radio star"? Listening to Telephone Line all these years later has made me realise what a wonderful band of real musicians ELO were, with superb musical craftsmanship and genuine human emotion carefully wrought into every song. Of course, not being young, pretty or able to perform absurd and often inappropriate dance routines whilst miming, they ultimately had no chance.
Curse MTV and modern "music" - it's lame, lifeless and plastic compared to songs like this.

Anti abortion | Reviewer: MC
------ About the song Livin' Thing performed by Electric Light Orchestra

This is supposed to be an anti-abortion song. An extended metaphor...
"it's a livin thing, it's a given thing...it's a terrible thing to lose"
the slide refererred to is a moral slide etcMoral doctrine masquerading as pop.
The thing is though that I'm a fan of Geof Lynn but this song is played on our local US owned FM station far more than any other of ELOs many recordings. God would be so pleased.

Breathtaking | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Kuiama performed by Electric Light Orchestra

Okay, so you listen to this song without the lyrics and it just has that beautiful, peaceful melody to it. But when you hear the words, they're packed with emotion, love, fear, hope..... It's just such a good song, it's hard to describe, just genius... "I wanted to run but they gave me a gun
and they told me the duty I owed to my Fatherland.
I made my stand," is probably the biggest quot from that song... I just love Electric Light Orchestra...

Not Electric Light Orchestra | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Dancin' performed by Electric Light Orchestra

This song is performed in 2 parts by Olivia Newton John and by The Tubes. ELO is not involved with this track.

As for a review, it's kind of silly. The rock part is an OK 80's track. The ONJ part is fake-40's-big-band.
