Elvis Presley Edge of Reality Lyrics

Last updated: 09/26/2011 11:00:00 AM

(Words & music by Giant - Baum - Kaye)
I walk along a thin line darling
Dark shadows follow me
Here's where life's dream lies disillusioned
The edge of reality

Oh I can hear strange voices echo
Laughing with mockery
The border line of doom I'm facing
The edge of reality

On the edge of reality she sits there tormenting me
The girl with the nameless face
On the edge of reality where she overpowers me
With fears that I can't explain
She drove me to the point of madness
The brink of misery
If she's not real then I'm condemned to
The edge of reality

On the edge of reality she sits there tormenting me
The girl with the nameless face
On the edge of reality where she overpowers me
With fears that I can't explain
She drove me to the point of madness
The brink of misery
If she's not real then I'm condemned to
The edge of reality

Reality, reality, reality, reality,
Reality, reality, reality, reality

Great Song | Reviewer: Christopher | 1/9/08

I'm surprised this song isn't more well known. "Edge of Reality" is a very good song. There were times when they were giving Elvis lousy songs to do along with lousy movies, but this isn't one of them. This song is from Live A Little, Love A Little, which was a pretty good movie. Unfortunately, a soundtrack was never released. Instead the songs were released as singles.

From Live A Little, Love A Little we got great songs like "A Little Less Conversation" and "Edge of Reality." "Wonderful World" is pretty good too. It might be seen as sentimental nonsense now, but a lot of songs are like that. Edge of Reality would make it on the B- side of If I Can Dream, another great Presley song.

Good Theme song for the Line of TV Shows on Today | Reviewer: Dave | 2/23/07

I remember first hearing this song on my grandparent's porch back in the 60's as my Grandfather played the 45, trying to keep me occupied as the women folk had their baby shower. Even then I realized the hauntingness in the intro.. It's almost as if in that piece the story is being told with no words. It definitely touches me today. I'd love to see a retro-video of Elvis doing that song. Thanks Elvis.

I've never been all that much of a fan of Elvis, but I heard this song on the radio during 1975. I was on my way to my evening shift as a Tolls Operator in the Telephone Exchange, and I left before I heard the song announced, so I rang the station when I got to work. It was very reminiscent of the songs of Uriah Heep at that time, such as on their "Return to Fantasy" album. I just bought the album with "Edge of Reality" yesterday, at a 2nd-Hand Record shop. I still think it's the best song that Elvis ever recorded.
