Hard to believe this song is almost 40 years old. I used to think EWF were of my mother's generation. Now that I'm older, I remember listening to all of the songs as a kid and now understanding their deep meaning. This song is one that I'd recommend for EVERY young man. It's a song of hope, faith, determination and speaks of this generation. It reminds them there is a higher power at work in their lives and gives them encouragement when it seems to be sorely lacking in the present day.
I feel so strongly about this son that I'm having my son just entering adulthood listen to it. It's a wonderful reminder to have hope, not to give up and to always look up to where our help comes from.

In 1973 I was still in high school. I was blown away when I first heard it, and still go crazy hearing it today. It sends a very powerful spiritual message of hope and the key to reality. The 70's had very down to earth music. Today's music cannot even get even close to their originality.

Just love Earth Wind and Fire! Any of their songs takes me back to my younger days when I was what they call a "tween" now a days. Wonderful rhythm and lyrics it is such a shame that today's artists can't take notes from a group like this to write great songs like this. Even my 21 and 25 year old sons love this music and would rather listen to this than what is put out today since as they say it all sounds the same compared to music of the past decades.

I love this song. But, I think I have a couple of corrections: In about verse 7, I think the line is

(I'm 42, been listening to the song since I was about 7 yrs. old, but have never actually SEEN the lyrics on an album cover as an adult).

I love this song for many reasons but one of the main reasons is how Maurice is able to take a topic most talk about, love, and bring an almost "sunday morning sermon" feel to it. He gets his point across so beautifully with this song and is why I believe him to be the greatest songwriter I've ever heard.
