I love this song. But, I think I have a couple of corrections: In about verse 7, I think the line is

"And like, coming from...a HIP place,
These things help give you insight to your inner self, have mercy, listen to me y'all! Feel it!"

(I'm 42, been listening to the song since I was about 7 yrs. old, but have never actually SEEN the lyrics on an album cover as an adult).

I love this song for many reasons but one of the main reasons is how Maurice is able to take a topic most talk about, love, and bring an almost "sunday morning sermon" feel to it. He gets his point across so beautifully with this song and is why I believe him to be the greatest songwriter I've ever heard.

From my first listening of Last Days and Times up to this song EWF still has it. It's not just the beat, and the lyrics, but the feeling you experience deep inside when you're listening and singing along. Suppose You like me. Has become one of my favorite to listen to, over and over, and over.

It was 1973 and a major shift was beginning in the landscape of music. I was already a huge Earth, Wind and Fire fan & listed to them as much as I did any of the great Motown, Stax Records acts of the time.

Then thne album "Head To The Sky" was released that year and I heard this track, WOW! This song is such a Spiritual High it's almost unreal. Maurice White wrote such powerful and esoteric lyrics that to those not used to actually listen to a complete song, not just the music, it was hard to pick up the message in the first go around.

But this song showcased all the genius that is Mr. White and gave Phillip Bailey the perfect vehicle to showcase his etheral vocal talents. This song changed the way I thought about music forever and disspelled the myth that only the only deep and powerful songwriters were to be found in the rock or folk genre's.

Thank you Mighty Elements for truly blessing us with this Masterpiece which sounds a wonderful today as it did now 37 years ago when it was first released.

This is, without question, one of the most goregous songs ever penned. Although Maurice White was the main songwriter and producer of the band, this is a gem co written by Phillip Bailey & Al MaKay.

These 2 penned some great songs for The Elements as well and this is their Crowning Achievement.
Goregous acoustic guitar intro by McKay & lead guitarist, Johnny Graham. Then Bailey takes over with his other worldly vocals.

Theirs beautiful harmonies and orchestrations and the songs builds to one of, if not, the most outstanding vocal and musical endings ever. This is a classic song from a classic album peformed by a classic band.

There's another version of this song that came out about 15 years ago sung by a female vocalist.
Same music, same lyrics. I never knew EW&F did this song. While living in Washington,DC in the late 80's to early 90's this song ( with the female vocalist) was played many times on Howard Univ. radio station WHUR 96.3FM. I can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions, ideas?
