Sarah Brightman Early One Morning Lyrics

Last updated: 03/06/2011 10:00:00 AM

Early one morning, just as the sun was rising,
I heard a maid singing in the valley below;
"O don't deceive me,
O never leave me!
How could you use a poor maiden so?"

"Remember the vows that you made to me so truly,
Remember the promise made beneath the willow tree;
Lovely the garden: fresh are the roses'
i've gathered from the garden as i remember thee!

Here! I..wonder! As I wander! Why! Why! Why must i hear in sorrow remain?

Thus sung the maiden her sorrow bewailing,
Thus sung the maiden in the valley below;
"O don't deceive me,
O do not leave me!
How could you use a poor maiden so?"
How could you use a poor maiden so?

Hellooooo??? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/11/10

Doesn't anyone here remember The Friendly Giant? It was a classic kid's show on Canadian television (CBC) for 27 years (1958-1985), and an instrumental of "Early One Morning" (1 harp, 1 recorder) was the opening and closing theme. That was the introduction of every Canadian between the ages of 28 - 55 to this bittersweet song. Still brings a tear to my eye whenever I hear it.

Actually, this song was also sung by Pernell Roberts as Adam Cartwright on Bonanza & by Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha on Bewitched (Episode 1, Season 8)

Tony :-)
