Kansas Dust In The Wind Lyrics

Last updated: 01/01/2014 01:02:26 PM

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

This song is about love, peace and togetherness as a human race. Its about sharing and not taking more than we need, its about loving oneself and all humanity, its about human journey and our final destination. Its about precious moments we take for granted, its about the vastness of the universe and how tiny we are, its about what really counts; the love we share!!!

end of life lesson and faith | Reviewer: Harry | 5/30/13

First, I am approaching the end -based on family history, present functioning I should have died 5 years ago. My siblings are gone. . .
Faith is in the heart of the believer. It is not universal. Spriituality is. Out of eternity I came to this world to stay a while, and soon I return from whence I came. It has been a profound journey of discovery and I leave it in great anticipation fpr the next phase. The only thing I can take with me is the love I have shared. All my hopes and dreams and plans are dust blowing in the wind. Any debate about God involves a different firmly concept for each debater and is just jawing. We will know, later. And when your time comes, Dont hang on. . . .

she left us so fast and so young | Reviewer: wayne | 3/8/13

Since this little three year old passed, I have been singing this song every day.It reminded me that we are some what Dust in the wind. However,I do believe that our soul is taken up by our creator. Our creator puts us here and takes us back.I love this song. It's such a great thing that reguard to race,we can share common grounds.

Dust in the Wind | Reviewer: Chris | 7/13/12

I listened to this song when I was a kid. Took my oldest son to see Kansas at his request. This summer I will take my youngest. I have pre-planned my life celebration and have requested that this song be played. I had never really thought about the religious slant to it until reading the reviews. I know that we are just dust in the wind in all reality, but with God life has so much more meaning.

No moment lasts forever | Reviewer: Farzad | 5/24/11

The music is about love, I believe. Do not panic to tell how much you love somebody, because at last we're all dust in the wind. Taking the risk of telling the truth to the one whom you love is better than being a coward who at the valley of death regrets these dusty moments.

Without The Lord it's dust in the wind | Reviewer: Kali | 1/19/11

I really love to hear this song, and that's what I was doing a few days ago,but there was something about the words...I was thinking what could be done to make them reflect what I believe in...and those two words came like a flash of light into my head "without Him".I googled it and landed here. :)
To the anonymous reviewer who had written those same words: I heard Kerry Livgren's testimony,he was challenged to refute the Bible as being the word of God and ended up becoming a Christian.it's beautiful and inspiring.May The Lord bless you and bless Kerry, and those who read these comments also.
Jesus is the way,the truth and the life, glory to His name.

Religion is dust in the wind | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/14/10

I think that dude who reckons this song would be better about "The lord" (sounds kind of culty, i know) got this song completely wrong, to me this songs demonstrates how even if you waste your whole life worshipping "The lord" at the end of the day, you die alone, even religion is dust in the wind.

Thank goodness the lyrics remained non religious | Reviewer: Kansasfan | 8/28/10

The lyrics are much better when not tainted by some sort of religious meaning, like the gentleman who has modified them had envisioned.
I'd much rather read or sing lyrics that talk about how this life we have is the only one we will EVER have and how lucky we are to be here instead of countless other people. Yet all is bound to end and time will consume everything, while we have the privilege to revel within the beautiful time that is our life and not witness the end of everything as we know it. This certainty does not have to be depressing and indicate the futility of life, on the contrary. It can make you appreciate what you have.

Kerry Livgren wrote this song at a time in his life when he was searching for the meaning of life.
After a long search Kerry found what he sought after for so long...listen to his testimony....

Although this song speaks of the emptiness and futility of this life, and offers no hope, I have taken the liberty of changing the lyric somewhat...I don't think Kerry would mind... : )

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, without The Lord its dust in the wind.

Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea

Dust in the wind, without The Lord its dust in the wind
Dust in the wind, everything is dust without Him

[Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever not the earth or sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.

Dust in the wind, without The Lord its dust in the wind.

I think everybody reconizes something from themselfs in this song. To me personaly, I start thinkin' about the girl that I'm in love with, and the fact that she's already with another. The song makes me sad, but it is so beautifull I can't turn it off. 'All my dreams pass before my eyes..' this part especialy reminds me off her, mayby because I have so many dreams of her.

this song remiand me when I was crossing the Arizona desert whit(?) nothing more than a gallon of water and a thin jaket... that's 20 years ago and for me is like is was yesterday. And laki the Bible said "Dust To The Dust..."

don't hang on | Reviewer: The sad 'woman' behind brown eyes | 6/13/09

Ah! the music, the lyrics, the voice and poetry... truth of this song - has never been expressed better by any other mortal on this earh. Remeber, don't hang on, especially when things look dismal, walk away before we crumble and become dust in the wind...

Ah, romantic nights... | Reviewer: Drakanaa | 4/11/09

The first time I heard this song, I was in the back of my boyfriend's father's car as he drove me home and I remember this song because the entire time, my boyfriend kept holding me and kissing me. I never heard the song again until today and it's almost been a year. I looked up the lyrics and now...gosh, I need to make a phone call. This song reminds me of him and back when things weren't so...fucked up.
