U2 Drowning Man Lyrics

Last updated: 01/19/2013 01:30:57 PM

Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
For I have promised
Oh, to be with you tonight
And for the time that will come
Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
And I understand
These winds and tides
This change of times
Won't drag you away
Hold on, and hold on tightly
Hold on, and don't let go
Of my love

The storms will pass...the storm will pass...
It won't be long won't be long now...
His love will last
His love will last...forever

Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
Give you what I hold dear

Hold on, hold on tightly
Hold on, hold on tightly
Rise up, rise up
With wings like eagles
You run, you run
You run and not grow weary

...Take my hand, take my hand...
Hold on, and hold on tightly
Hold on, hold on tightly
To this love...last forever
To this love...last forever

Take my hand

This song touchs me deeply. | Reviewer: Kitz | 1/19/13

My mother and I flew to Ireland as my Nanna was diagnosed with Cancer and we wanted to be at her side. On the plane in my headset I listened to this song. Sadly she passed away 3 months later. Mother and I remained with her until her passing. Now 30 years on it still reachs into my soul and touchs me. A beautiful song.

U2 Fans ALSO Steal and Misrepresent God's Words/"Lyrics" to the World | Reviewer: theresa1 | 10/19/12

It hasn't only been Bono et al that have taken pieces of Jehovah's own words and then put paraphrases of them in whatever ultimate context they've wanted - sometimes mass-media EXPLOITING and MISREPRESENTING THEM to the world, in order to "defend" and promote their own [2Timothy 4:3,4] personal desire/agenda "fulfilling" version of WHO God is and HOW He should be worshiped - DESPITE the FACT that the GOD they are paraphrasing ALREADY HAS HIS OWN, DIFFERENT TERMS OF WORSHIP laid out in HIS SAME WORDS that the bit-and-piece takers have selected-for-convenience from.

Has not the DAMAGE and blasphemy U2 idolaters have done this way now become even greater than that fueled by those they have idolized as "spiritual guides"?

U2 | Reviewer: Shauna | 10/8/12

I've been a U2 fan since I was 17, 1983.. Now my children are 2nd generation die hards as myself and my husband. It's obvious to those that are fortunate enough to not only "hear" their music, but to truly "feel" it. I find God in their music and can say a live concert is more moving than any church service I've ever attended. Why must we dissect the lyrics? Whatever we take from the song, it should be personal and private. Especially if its spiritual. I found that once I started looking up "what Bono meant, or who it was for..." I would be disappointed if I had taken something completely different away. Take from them what your heart seeks and leave the rest behind. "Walk til you run, and don't look back...for here I am" I say that to my kids, and about God. each his own

I wish I could have slow-danced this song with my new bride on our wedding day!
Maybe I'll get a chance at my daughter's wedding-in a "father and daughter" dance.
This is a song about God's unconditional love towards us.
A promise that God will never leave us nor forsake us.
For He has made us and He won't let us go.
These "winds and tides" nor "change of times" will separate us from the hold of love that God has promised us.
God says "Take my hand, and hold on tightly..."

U2 FANATICAL | Reviewer: Lisa Cambridge | 1/21/10

I believe this is a beautiful, well written and wonderfully performed song by U2. I do not care what Bono's inspiration was for writing. It is about my connection to the song and the way it makes me feel and it is beautiful. Reminds me of the way I feel about the man I love.

Its about Bono and Adam Clayton | Reviewer: chris | 10/21/07

The song is actually about Bono and Adam Clayton. In the 80's Adam was the only one that wasn't a die hard Christian and it was tearing the band apart because Adam felt isolated. Bono wrote it for him.....with some reflection to God trying to get Adam into it.

love song? | Reviewer: doug s | 9/6/07

This might be a love song but not for girl. This song is clearly about the relationship between the singer and God.

"His love will last...forever"

"I'll cross the sky for your love
Give you what I hold dear"

And my favorite, a variation of Isaiah 40:31:

"Rise up, rise up
With wings like eagles
You run, you run
You run and not grow weary"

Clearly, this song was not written for any girl.
