Drift Away Lyrics

Review The Song (4)Print the Lyrics
Day after day I'm more confused
Yet I look for the light through the pouring rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
and I'm feelin' the strain, ain't it a shame

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Won't you take me away....?

Beginnin' to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
And I'm countin' on you.Oh you can carry me through

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Won't you take me away....?

And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
When I'm feelin' blue
The guitar's comin' through to soothe me.

Thanks for the joy that you've given me (ohhh the joy that you have given me)
I want you to know that I believe in your song (ohh yeah)
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony (hmmmmmmm)
You help me along (makin' me strong) oh you're makin' me strong

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away (drift away)
Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away (drift away)

Give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away (drift away)
Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Won't you take me away? (ooh)

Review about Drift Away

7 for performance 0 for originality | Reviewer: Peter | 7/28/2007

I like the fact that it was brought back and appreciated by a new audience. That said, I still have a problem with artists that copy an original piece and get credit as if it is something of their own.

Hello Brad | Reviewer: Wesley | 7/1/2007

ok brad.. dont get me wrong the original is very good.. it was dobie grays greatest hit back in 1973 but this newer version is a better put together song.. this probably has to do with todays more advanced technology as the correcting of sharp and flat notes in a studio greatly changes the quality of the song. i dont really fancy uncle kracker.. actually this is the only song of his i have any appreciation for what-so-ever. you must credit dobie gray n the writer for making it a hit in the first place though. great song and as for you Brad.. you should show some more respect for others work. seeing as i highly doubt you could do a better recreation of this great work.

Dobie Gray | Reviewer: Brad | 3/14/2007

Dobie Gray is the original performer of this song, and the original version is ten times better than this sort of Gay(not that there's anything wrong with that)version.
