here is my tought on the subject.the song is one of the best slow hardcore songs of all time.disturbed are alpha and omega of hard rock.every songs have a unique touch.its neither slow nor fast.the right tempo,lyrics,vocals and melody. i have never seen other bands pull this off.so(just pointing the obvious) disturbed are the best band in the universe.anyone who disagrees FUCK OFF AND DIE.

Maybe can be a type of "Revenge" of maybe the experience he had with his mom.
A "Revenge" for what she did to him when he was a child, letting her know the bad experiences his son felt during those abuses, screaming to her and telling her insults.

i love how epic and powerful this song is. it's always been one of my favorites. I love the switch in tone in David's voice during the song. I feel like it goes exacly with the song, like he's got a demon inside him that's about to come out, like the part: "(softer voice)there's no turning back now, you've woking up the demon!..(powerful voice) IN ME!!! and then the whole chorus is the demon inside of him singing.

think that this song shows how he feel about how he was treated as a child...i think that it shows what he was feeling like on the inside it also shows his relationship with his mother and how he felt about her i believe that even after all the bad things that had happened he still loved her but the only reason that he hated her was because she didnt exactly love him back i believe that all he wanted was a little bit more emotion from his mother he just wanted her to show him that she actually loved him...
And I quote from one of his interviews "And it's that state of things that 'disturbeds' us" Hence why the bands name is Disturbed.

I don't know the whole background of this song and whether or not it has a deep meaning as some people in here claim, The song has cool rhythm and some cool lyrics up until the f*ucked up chorus part with the abusive mom, it could have deeper meaning but there's no way to tell by lyrics alone unless stated beforehand.
