Review about Doobie Brothers Best song the Doobie Bros ever did | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song Another Park, Another Sunday performed by Doobie Brothers
Another Park, Another Sunday -- amazing song that will forever freeze time for me. I had to deal with some very personal issues during in the 70's and through the sadness and the good times this song helped me through.
The 70's were the BEST decade for music hands down.

------ About the song Another Park, Another Sunday performed by Doobie Brothers
In 1974 - I lost the love of my life...
When I first heard this song - I cried....
The music moves using 'hopeful' chord progressions and a light hearted tempo, yet the spuperb vocal (and harmonies) reach your heart; letting you know that this song IS YOUR SONG...while the sadness, regret and breaking of your very soul will NEVER be healed - only comforted by such smooth and tender lyrics as this song holds. PEACE
I love this song. The lyrics relate with the Servant of the Lord. How do I know, because that man, Servant of the Lord, is me. I heard the Word of God, back in June of 1985, when I was a lost 27 year old, drunken, addict, living on the east side of Detroit, Michigan. To make a long story short, here's what I heard. "You are a good man." "All men have purpose." "You have purpose ." "White man help the black man." "Organize." May God Help Us All Amen

------ About the song Another Park, Another Sunday performed by Doobie Brothers
To "Anonymous" - Michael McDonald did not sing "Another Park, Another Sunday". He wasn't even in the Doobies yet when this came out. It is Tom Johnson, the original Doobies lead vocalist (China Grove, Long Train Runnin', Listen To The Music, etc.).

------ About the song Neal's Fandango performed by Doobie Brothers
Some of the best southern/country rock you will ever hear is on this album.....From the lyrics to the music, the album is a high water mark for collaberative guitar. "Neals Fandango" is a guitar players must have. Fast and furious, it should be played loud and more than once.

------ About the song Another Park, Another Sunday performed by Doobie Brothers
Been a Doobies fan since the early 70's. Had forgotten what a great song Tom Johnston wrote and sings in Another Park, another Sunday. Reminds me of some great times in Austin Texas. Rock on Brothers !!
This song with so many others from 1974 reflect the new FM radio of the time, "Another Park...." is very very very symbolic of 1974, add Joni Mitchell "Help Me", George Harrison "Dark Horse", ELO "Eldorado", and you have 1974 pretty well summed up, and a fantastic year it was in popular music, 10 CC "Wall Street", fer crissakes.
Great Song | Reviewer: Lou
------ About the song White Sun performed by Doobie Brothers
Short and sweet. Mellow but not James Taylor sappy. Just great vocals and wonderful acoustic accompanyment. Doobie Brothers at their happiest.
I agree, this is the best tune they ever did, but that wasn't Michael McDonald's voice, it was Tom Johnston's (who also wrote the song). M.M. didn't join the Doobies 'til later, when Tom was too ill to continue.
Just wanted to give credit to the (awesome) musician who created it.
I agree w/all you Doobie fans. Best damn song they ever did. I'm old school but c'mon, Rage Against The Machine and NIN up against groups like the Doobies. Fat Chance !!!!!!!!!!!!!
another lonely park another sunday is my absolute favorite by doobie brothers and prob one of my favorite songs of all time...by any artist!

------ About the song Another Park, Another Sunday performed by Doobie Brothers
I've loved the Doobies for as long as I remember, and I love all their music--all in different ways. However, "Another Park, Another Sunday" takes the cake for their best song ever. It flows so well, Michael McDonald's voice is classic. My only criticism is that I wish the song was longer.

------ About the song Nobody performed by Doobie Brothers
Great guitar work....The first song on the CD and it rocks...a blend of country & rock. You can see the progression to China Grove & Long Train Running from ther very first of the Doobie Bors creations...
Wish I could have seen them back in the day!

------ About the song I Cheat The Hangman performed by Doobie Brothers
I'm curious about the meaning & origination of this song. Is it about evading the law, faking death, coming back from death? What was the inspiration? Anyone know.

------ About the song I Cheat The Hangman performed by Doobie Brothers
This song sounds a lot like CSNY, smooth singing and guitar work. Excellent live! I first saw them in '74.

This is the best song they have ever done, hands down!
Classic Americana | Reviewer: Kim
------ About the song Black Water performed by Doobie Brothers
No song of the '70s better describes that certain southern gothic Americana. Replete with references to Twain, Faulkner, and the river that knits the north to the south, Black Water is a true classic American ballad. And it totally rocks !

------ About the song Losin' End performed by Doobie Brothers
Losin' End merges McDonald's haunting lyrics with the Doobs' funk & jazz talents. This song, more than any other on the Takin' It album, provides a glimpse of the McDonald vocal / R&B background to come on the next 2 albums.

The guitar interlude between the two vocal sections is hauntingly beautiful. Can someone tell me the musician responsible?
