Dollars and Cents Lyrics
Artist(Band):Radiohead
There are many things to talk about
Be constructive
There are weapons we can use
Be constructive with your blues
Even when it’s only warnings
Even when you talk the war games
Oh Why don’t you quiet down?
(Maybe I want peace and honesty)
Why don’t you quiet down?
(Maybe I want to live in the children’s land
And you know maybe, maybe I)
Why don’t you quiet down?
(Maybe I’ll wander the promised land
I want peace and honesty)
Why don’t you quiet down?
(I want to live in the promised land
And maybe wander the children’s land)
Quiet down! (Yeah, and there, there we can free)
You don’t live in a business world and
You never go out and you never stay
We won our goals in a liberal world
Living in times when I could stand it, babe
All over, baby’s crying
It’ll all be, baby, I can see out of here
All over the planet’s dead
All over the planet, so let me out of here
All over the, all over the, all over the, all over the
(Quiet down)
We are the dollars and cents and the pounds and pence
And the mark and the yen, and yeah
(Why don’t you quiet down?)
We’re gonna crack your little souls
We’re gonna crack your little souls
(Why don’t you quiet down?)
We are the dollars and cents and the pounds and pence
And the pounds and pence, and yeah
(Why don’t you quiet down?)
We’re gonna crack your little souls
Crack your little souls
We are the dollars and cents

Review about Dollars and Cents
Dollars and Cents | Reviewer: John R | 1/29/2008In this song, Thom Yorke symbolizes people for money. The people exactly are the people in his band. What he's mentioning to you at the end of this song is that him and his band are the dollars and cents, pounds and pence, which is really just money and of course everyone needs that in order to survive, and they will crack your little soul. The soul he's referring to in the song is the soul of big-business and world politics - the people who wear suits - the authoritative, omnipotent voice is commanding him to behave but he insists on living in his fantasy dream world. Later on he mentions he condescends towards big-business and world politics and mentions a baby is crying. The baby that is crying is the whole world. It is crying because of big-business and politics aren't letting him and his people live the way they want to live. Radiohead - the band - is the one that stands outside this evil machine, this all thought encompassing and controlling machine because they are still allowed to play in their dream world. The soul they are cracking is the soul of big-business and world politics - the soul of the people who wear suits everyday. He's saying two things simultaneously at the end of the song. One that he is the sort of thing that stands outside the machine, the heckler, the mocker, the rebel who will not conform to their standards and two he's going to sabotage their system and bring it down, one crack at a time. A brilliant song, a great message, this is why I love Radiohead.

Thom Yorke is the red flag, the siren, the man who warns us of the future. Should we not heed his magnificient words, astronauts will one day be able to smell the scent of the landfills from space, and the totalitarians will rise again, and we will all drown in the melted ice of the arctic.

not a weird or strange song at all...
