Do Right Woman, Do Right Man Lyrics - Aretha Franklin
Review The Song (7)
Take me to heart and I’ll always love you
And nobody can make me do wrong
Take me for granted, leaving love unshown
Makes will-power weak and temptation strong
A woman’s only human
You should understand
She’s not just a plaything
She’s flesh and blood just like her man
If you want a do-right-all-day woman
You’ve got to be a do-right-all-night man
They say that it’s a man’s world
Well you can't prove that by me
And as long as we’re together baby
Show some respect for me
Firmness - let's be serious here!
You’ve got to play fair if you want co-operation!

Demanding respect, as a different pace | Reviewer: Aries Dave | 10/23/10
This was the b-side to Franklin's breakthrough Atlantic hit (I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You) in January 1967.
And something NEW it was. We loved the Motown girls, and continued to, but most of their records came down to 'he's breaking my heart and I don't know what to do-hoo'. One got an entirely different impression with Aretha.
Her songs too often spoke of troubled romances, but when an Aretha record detailed love hitting some rocks, you felt less sad for her, than worried for the guy who was doing her wrong. Even at her most broken-hearted, this was a woman with an unshakeable sense of self-worth, and it came through every time she sang.
What lay ahead was an astonishing string of successes, and if you were lucky, like me, you were just hitting your teen years as Aretha's momentum gathered.

This song leaves you in a trance, having to hear it many times to grasp every word and emotion. All these mainstream and bubblegum music is here and then gone. Ms. Aretha Franklin is all Longevity.

I listened to this song ALOT when I started dating a friend of mine! Relationships arent always smooth, and can take alot of work, but who says you cant love your job?!
That friend (my best friend) is now my wife ;)

I discovered Aretha in college and this is one of my all time favorites. Listen to it everyday. In a Sex in the City World, you need to be reminded of the basics to a real relationship. It helps me keep my standards firmly in place.

This is one of my all time favourite Aretha Franklin songs! Which makes it one of my all time favourite ever songs. The message is so true. If a man wants to keep his woman happy he needs to do his part. It's got none of the slightly overdone feel of some Aretha songs it's just pure and clean and straight from the heart. From the greatest female vocalist the planet has ever known.
