Disguising Mistakes With Goodbyes Lyrics - Emery

Review The Song (12)

Just take it back (I feel)
they're only words (your hair)
we hold the tethers (through my)
we're here together (fingers)

we paint the night (every)
only to find (silk stand)
it's cracked and peeling (takes my)
each face revealing (breath a-)
what we don't say (-way)

let's take these lines and
draw ourselves out of here
this shipwreck
from set-sail
we'll map the stars
tonight they help to find a way
when all is said
words can breathe more life than death

the inner sense that people share
touching on secrets and letting down hair

over and over let's not forget last time
I've kept the best parts and play them in my mind
this is tomorrow so take it or leave it

empty diaries
there's nothing to say
and we'll take the right steps
to keep these pages clean
you want the answers
i see them on your face
you need to know this is where the promise breaks

i can give you my answer
i can give you my answer
i can give you my answer
i can give you my answer

i know (i know)
if you stay (if you stay)
this will be (this will)
ours to take (be ours to take)

inside i (i feel)
am overwhelmed (so good)
from holding back (i want)
but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)

i can't stay here
you can't ask me
just so you would know

labeled or not | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/5/11

Why does everything have to be labelled?
It can be in the genre rock but still include some
Christian metaphors or even include any other genre
Nothing has to be set in stone. And if you think
About it wouldn't they get a lot more unbelievers to
Listen to their music and therefore spreading the word of God in some way :) love emery! recently
Realised some lyrics are about God therefore I love
Them even more!!!C

Give me a break | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/12/11

My gosh people, in case you haven't noticed it says review song not debate Emery's religion...it isn't even about reviewing the band...it says review the song. I think we can all agree that the song is great, meaningful, and applicable to to life...my life especially right now. Great song, Emery we thank you.

Definately Christian | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/15/10

They're music is sometimes very much about God. 'Ten Talents' is so completely obvious I don't even know why this is a topic of debate. Even Jesus spoke in parables. He had to sit down later and explain the meanings to his disciples even though the ones referring to his death were still hidden. I think it's genius that Emery is doing God's work through appealing to even the unsaved ear. (plus they have songs they sing strait out of psalms). Sorry this is long. I love you guys!

Not Emo or Christian. | Reviewer: Brianda | 4/9/10

Just so it's out there, Emery's genre is Rock (check on iTunes), definetely not Emo or Christian. Just because all members happen to be Christian doesn't mean their band is of that religion. And if you want to look at the metaphors within their lyrics: the translation isn't about God. Not necessarily anyway.

who cares | Reviewer: anonymous | 12/26/09

who gives a shit, seriously
if theyre christian, then shut up. no one cares if they talk about god or not
i couldnt care less, im a muslim and im a metal head. ive listened to tons of christian rock, not because its christian, but because they have GOOD MUSIC.

Christain but not a christain band. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/20/09

I did some reading on the band (which happens to be my all time favorite band!) and the guys are christian but the band does not label themselves as christian. Not all of their songs have a christian view but are more about real life and raw feelings. some of theirs songs you can actually dig out the christian meaning. Look up their biography. I found it on wikipedia and random searching on google. they are all the same.
None the less, an amazing band!

I am Christian! | Reviewer: Katie | 1/24/09

So, you're telling me that if you ask a Christian what music they listen to, they won't tell you that they listen to Emery?
I am Christian.
Emery is in my top 5 favorite bands.
Just because they don't outright mention God doesn't mean they do not talk about Him.

Um, About them being Christian. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/5/08

Actually, believe it or not, they are.

They've stated it before and just because a band does not say it up front that they are a Christian band so to speak it doesn't mean they aren't. Lyrics, in most cases, are not to be taken literally but metaphorically. Read. Decipher. Learn. :]

emery, christian? | Reviewer: tony | 2/4/08

i dont think emery is very christian. go up to a christian person and ask them what they listen to. its certainly not emery. emery doesnt even talk about god in their music. i lvoe them but i wouldnt call them christian.
