Dinosaur Jr. Lyrics

"Dinosaur Jr. was largely responsible for returning lead
guitar to indie-rock and, along with their peers the
Pixies, they injected late-'80s alternative rock with
monumental levels of pure guitar noise. As the group's
career progressed, it turned into a vehicle for J. Mascis'
songwriting and playing, which had the ultimate result of
turning Dinosaur's albums into largely similar affairs.
Over time, Mascis shed his hardcore punk roots and revealed
himself to be a disciple of Neil Young, crafting simple

------ About the song Can't We Move This? performed by Dinosaur Jr.

I came here solely for a laugh, as this is the most difficult Dinosaur Jr. to make out lyrically. That being said, this is still way off. Not even close, really. I am just a fan, but I know better. For example, you have "strap it to my chin." No, I think that the line is "it could not have turned out weirder if I planned." Whoever wrote this has clearly heard the song 1-2 times, whereas I have heard it over 100 times.

------ About the song Not the Same performed by Dinosaur Jr.

I listened to this song the day my dad was hospitalised for the first time about three years ago. He stayed alone in a single room and the evening was windy. When I left him I read sort of fear and despair in his face...this song was associated with his emotions. He came back home a few days later but kept on returning to hospital every now and then. Every time I listened to this song I couldn't help linking it to dad's disease. When it got clear he would leave us soon this song became his song in my mind. The strange of it all is that I'd never read the lyrics (I'm not american and I write and read English better than I understand it). Tonight I decided to do it...I miss you dad

------ About the song Little Fury Things performed by Dinosaur Jr.

This is the good stuff. I know I'm sounding like a total hipster (bad thing) when I say that that music doesn't come this pure these days. Pure creativity. Bands like Dinosaur Jr., NIrvana, Sonic Youth, etc. really knew what they were doing back then.

------ About the song Start Choppin' performed by Dinosaur Jr.

though this track is about 14 years old, it still holds up. Dino Jr. has withstood the test of time. still one of favorite bands to this day, revisiting this track never gets old. pieced together so well with a tight ryhthem section and the wailing characteristics of Jay's guitar bravado, this song is still one of my favorites. this piece is the perfect demonstration as to why this band has transcended the rock genre. hats off to Lou, Murph, and Jay.

------ About the song Not the Same performed by Dinosaur Jr.

happened to be i know 2 dogs who just died, and hearing this song is the first time i cried over them. and over me. and over him. well, over me and him probably not the first, but after a long time i haven;t... i knew this song somewehre in the mid 90s when i left my parents' house and started playing with being an adult. i had it on a tape, recorded from the radio. i think i love the most the small parts of the piano in the end. i find them most precious and it's like the piano plays inside my heart. i always loved them. i hadnt heared this song for years, after tapes got out of style.... and suddenly ran into it a few days ago. and now, listnening to it again, made me feel somehow like those years. made me very emotional. and got me crying while singing the song, and thinking about all the loved ones absent from my life.

------ About the song Not the Same performed by Dinosaur Jr.

In my late 40's now -I/ve learned never to argue music tastes w/friends . Music affects each of us differently ,often in deeply personal way . For many years this song has haunted me- its melody ,the way he sings it ,the somber chords he chose to play on guitar . This song has always made me a litle sad and the song has more meaning to me now as I've lost my older brother, my friend to cancer . I stumbled onto this site and have read the other two reviews -obviously this 6 minute piece of music has touched us and I don't think we are alone . Jason , you wrote you can't explain how this song makes you feel -that sentence says it all . I know what you mean- I think the feeling is melencholy , that feeling of sadness over lost loved ones , lost parents , failed relationships ,everything thats makes life hard .
Peace ,

------ About the song Mind Glow performed by Dinosaur Jr.

listening to this song, i drove into seneca falls, ny - a small town in the center of the state that is said to inspire the scenery of "it's a wonderful life."

the combination of the music, the town- which is probably the most humble suburb i've visited- and the weather - grey skies, sun coming up, probably about 40degrees- was an event i don't think i'll shake for years.

i'm still smiling from it, and this song will always have that special time locked in with it.

Not just another song | Reviewer: Mens Rea
------ About the song Not the Same performed by Dinosaur Jr.

I've heard this song for the 1st time (at least that I can recall) a short while before my lovely dog (that was more like a sister to me) had passed away. I assume this song is written for someone who died, and is not just another breakup song. This song really reminds me of my precious Angie, and is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If anyone of the band happens to see this - Thank you!
