The Descendents were way ahead of their time - they started to play pop punk while the Clash was still around, and over 10 years before pop punk became popular in 1994. The band released their first album 'Milo Goes To College' in 1982. At time of the album's release, lead singer Milo Aukerman actually was headed off to college, and so this LP was the only one until three years later. Many consider the album to actually be an EP, considering the fact that it only clocks in at 22 minutes and 32 seconds. However, anything running longer than 20 minutes is actually considered an album or LP. At first listen, it may sound like you wasted your money. Not only is it short, but it's quite bitter sounding in songs such as 'Parents', where Milo sounds like a dying animal. When you first hear that song in particular, you just wish Milo would shut the hell up. However, after you listen to the album through a few times, it'll grow on you, and eventually it'll become a short and sweet 20 minutes that you'll be playing over and over time and time again. You'll then know why the album is considered one of the best punk albums of all time.
