Review The Song (58)Print the Lyrics
Man1: That's what I believe got him re-elected, is the people knew that you could believe what he said
Man2: Well, that's a repressive comment
Bush: Our country is strong
Man3: But how many people march, it's like going to...
Bush: We go forward to defend freedom
Man4: ...the government's side
Bush: And all that is good, and just, in our world

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you've stolen from me

You wanna' know why I feel so horrified?
I let my innocence die
You wanna' know why I can't be pacified?
You made me bury something
I won't be sleeping tonight

I only wanted the blessing made
Now I've been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You're no immortal
I won't let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

You wanna' know why it seems the passion's died?
We've all been living this lie
You wanna' know why my will's been fortified?
You've made me hunger again
Good luck sleeping tonight

I only wanted the blessing made
Now I've been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You're no immortal
I won't let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you've stolen from me
I was too blinded to see
All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you've stolen from me

Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

Deify you
(All my devotion betrayed)
They view you as the new messiah
(I am no longer afraid)
Deify you
(I was too blinded to see)
Renew belief in some demented man...
(How much you've stolen from me...)

What I think about our Government. | Reviewer: Bubba | 11/2/09

I personally think our government doesn't give a shit about the people in the USA. If they did, they would do more for there own people, instead of helping other countries out all of the time. Do you ever see any of those countries help us out? I mean I know about trade, where we get our oil from, etc, but we never get it for free. We are helping re-build Iraq, when terrorist ass holes from over there decided to kill a bunch of our people in the World Trade Center (may those who died rest in peace). We even helped re-build Japan long ago, after nuking them (even though I think they deserved it, due to Pearl Harbor). I know someone is gonna whine back to me, saying I am wrong blah blah and that our government is good, but they are wrong. Our government is a piece of shit and they know it, they just care about themselves, money, etc. It will always be like that forever, unless the world somehow ends or we overthrow our government. Both will never happen, so in other words everything will stay the same.

maybe.... | Reviewer: i | 10/23/09

I personally think that there's an undercover government, and btw theres that movie that was made about a black guy who did kinda the same things that obama did and became the president of the USoA,

facts | Reviewer: miles parker | 8/28/09

before you state a percentage... look it up. i've done my research. you can look it up in new archives, congressional records, and eyewitnesses a.k.a. SOLDIERS. i've talked to a many myself and they've all said the same thing. the only people that don't want us there are the hostile, murderous, terrorists, which by the way, DON'T make up 99%. Genocide was happening, and we stopped it. Don't tell me that they don't want us there. look up your facts. I do my research, so you do yours. and i don't care what your opinion about bush is. it really doesn't matter. you have the right to say that, and i respect it. but i would like to know why you say evil and corrupt. i could understand "stupid" and "retarded." but for something like evil and corrupt, i fail to see what qualifies him as that. thank you for not cussing me out though. i appreciate your respect for discussion. i'm glad there are people who know how to talk without cussing or insulting.

hahaha | Reviewer: j | 8/27/09

wow mr parker. that cracks me up that you think that the natives of iraq want us there. apparently you don't do much research. i mean some of them appreciate it because they are MORE scared of their own people, but 99% of them never wanted us there and want us gone. Killing thousands and thousands of innocent citizens in an unnessessary war is completley idiotic. and Bush is stupid so you must thing he's innocent. i honestly thing he is one of the most corrupt evil men we've ever had as president.

deification | Reviewer: Miles Parker | 6/10/09

I love how a lot of people point a finger at bush, and then completely forget about obama. Honestly, i have never seen a more worshipped president than he. While i did support bush a whole lot, it wasn't because i was "blindly" following him. i honestly thought he was a great guy. whether or not you agreed with him, you have to admit that he honestly did what he thought was was right. as far as i've seen, obama has flip-flopped a lot and done was has made him popular i.e. the stimulus package.

i will admit though, that it's not fair for me to single out obama, so i'll say this. every president of the united states has been "deified" in the hearts of americans in some way, shape, or form. doesn't the blame belong to the americans then in the first place? a president can "try" to deceive all he wants, but he (or she) will never succeed. there will always be people who can see through the lies. therefore, it's the fault of americans for not listening to the warnings. you can't blame someone for being well-liked. would it make sense if i were angry at you for having more friends then me, or being more popular than me?

one last thing. i completely agree with tony 100%. for anyone arguing about the war in iraq, ask a soldier about what is happening, the progress we are making, and how the natives feel about us over there. your peace talk won't work on the terrorists. they won't stop until they see us dead or converted (ii'm NOT saying that that's how muslims believe. i'm saying that's what the terrorists believe). oh, and sorry if i tick you off for writing a lot., i just tought i say what was on my mind. this is america, right?

brainwashing | Reviewer: seththill | 5/25/09

people who just support bush cuz they think they hav to b loyal to our president r brainwashed morons and need to grow sum balls and think how they want to think, instead of what is politically correct. great song with a great point. disturbed is the one band that i can relate to all their songs

Great tune, lyrics are old hat anti-gov | Reviewer: Tony | 12/23/08

Personally, I like disturbed as a band and their music. Not a real fan of the lyrics, but who cares, I like Clooney as an actor, hate him and his politics. got a clue for all you kumbaya singers out there. Pacification at the point of a gun, warfare and terror are the only thing the enemy understands. Once begin imposing our will upon the enemy, the sooner we will have world peace. If you are determined to "make friends", might I suggest enrolling in a madrassas. Sit around a camel dung fire in some cave. It's real simple. Not rocket science. Endless warfare until who knows when or we begin strongly projecting our presence and we have peace now. Pick one. Spare me the anarchistic and peace freek rhetoric, that crap was useless in the 60's and it's useless now. Get with the "real world" or drop out.

wat the hell | Reviewer: Aaron | 12/20/08

hae im australian and i recently watched disturbed live...ive been a fan since b4 the sickness when they were doing music of motocross videos and stuff like perfect insanity...sure its on the latest album but that song is over 12 years old....anyways i thought america invaded iraq causes thats where al quada and taliban are....and didnt they kill like 2000 americans in 2001....so war is the only way ppl seem to understand.....the victor should impose any law he wants over the conquerd....its survival of the fittest....anyways u ppl suck for analyzing songs and taking the fun out of them.....ROCK music is about the freedom of speech and is away of expressing feelings and emotions....so u all suck cya's around i gotta put another shrimp on the barbie

Undisturbed | Reviewer: Soniconus | 11/22/08

First, consider a band's name before making comments about themes in their lyrics. People choose certain bands for the way they make them think and/or feel, whether they're hearing them for the first time or when it's similar to other music they enjoy. This band is "Disturbed" for a reason, not for making "wonderful music," which is what classical music gives you. This music is heavy and hard and its themes are just as "heavy" because important things are going on unawares to non-critically thinking Americans (who showed up at the polls in droves of pajamas and stuffed animals for this last election, along with the prodding authoritarian/parental figures who shutttled them there). I listen to Disturbed for the drumming, but if they have some insight within their particular bias, I will listen to that as well...and even make some pointed comments about it to suit. For me, it's easy, because I don't wonder about "men in power." The only thing under my direct control is who I am and where I live, and, of course, where (and how) I spend my money. Make sure you have reserves if "Deify" is presently in office, because you will need to flee (but you should be saving money anyway, or haven't you seen what happened with gas prices this past summer? Like I said, only so much is in MY direct control.).

NO | Reviewer: jordan | 11/13/08
