I think all of you here have missed the title--- "Tiny vessels" It like a tiny vessel of memory in the huge ocean of life. The person here meets a very beautiful girl(having brown tinge to her hair) during his 2 weeks vacation to silver lake. He gets attacted and things begin to move fast. And before he realises, he find himself getting physical with her. Suddenly in bed he realises his mistakes--- "she is beautiful but she don't mean a thing to me" That his lust has landed him in a wrong place. But then its too late. He is too afraid to tell the girl; he now just want to enjoy the time forgetting everything else, because he didnot wanted to hurt her. He while getting physical accidently leaves a mark of injury on her neck which he metphorically mentions as "Tiny Vessels"; as if a tiny piece of memory. "Tiny vessels oozed into your neck And formed the bruises" The girl still unaware wanted this injury ("Tiny Vessel") to stay forever. But that was not to be for he left the next day cheating the girl and making the "Tiny Vessel" "cheap" and "vile". I think I am able to make all of you understand what I think. Epitome of Relationships | Reviewer: Kaiyla ------ About artist/band Death Cab For Cutie Well, I had heard about them a couple of times, but the name of the band sort of pushed me away. I was not aware of how mellow most their music was, so I discarded any interest. Then my boyfriend brought them up and I began growing curious. One night he quoted I Will Follow You Into the Dark- "the time for sleep is now, it's nothing to cry about, 'cause we'll hold eachother soon." This was one of many he quoted and I started to think, man I really need to listen to this band. Well one day I finally did, and I heard I Will Follow You Into The Dark and the intro chords really set the mood. I don't want to say that they are a depressing band to listen to, because I have become addicted. It's just that I hear them and feel sadness, but very happy at the same time because of the associations I have with them and my boyfriend as well as just the way their lyrics make you think about what they're really trying to say. I have bought Narrow Stairs and hope to find Plans. This band is amazing. In the second verse he is talking about a beautiful girl that he met at a two week camp, who had a brown tint to her hair. She was beautiful..again, duh. In the third verse he is talking about when they would walk around camp at night with her confessing his "love", and later going to "all his friends" to talk about what happened. He goes on to talk about leaving her with a mark on her neck, which in my opinion, means something more....like a mark deeper than the skin. the forth verse he talks more about the bruise resulting from the sex, and how she was proud of it, and like their "love" it would never fade. But it did, and so did he. the next verse he talks about the camp coming close to an end, his knowing that it would not be longer than that, he still being blind and thinking it would last forever. She asks him what is wrong, he doesn't want to talk about it. the last verse is where he admits that it was "vile and cheep" to use her and leave her, and how even during the last days together he still took advantage of her and let her think what she wanted to. SO, basically it just means exactly what it says. He wished he loved her, but he didn't and he doesn't. Sorry if I offended anyone by breaking it down, it was more for me than anyone else. To me, the empty room is an empty space in this person's heart. It seems like he is in a long distance relationship with a girl he loves but its so hard for him to feel connected to her when he is away, which is often. This song is about him wondering if he should look for another relationship with all the other possibilities "on the streets" around him. The empty space in his heart is not being fulfilled since he cannot always be with the one he loves, and it distracts him from his relationship.
