Pink Dear Mr. President Lyrics

Last updated: 03/01/2014 05:42:46 PM

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothin bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
would u

"Dear Mr. President" is a song by Pink featuring the Indigo Girls, and was recorded for Pink's fourth album, I'm Not Dead. Pink said that the song was an open letter to the President of the United States, George W. Bush, and that it was one of the most important songs she had written. She stated that it would never be released as a single in the United States, because it was too important to be perceived as a publicity stunt. It has since been released in Europe, Australia and Canada. The video of her performance live from Wembley Arena was added to the VH1 line-up of videos. From Wikipedia

This is why I love her so much | Reviewer: Mila | 3/1/14

The one thing about Pink that I love is that she's fierce and not afraid to speak her mind. She had a problem with the president and how he was running things, so she let him know about it. That wasn't the first time she's ever done that kind of thing. Remember her song "stupid girls" ? This wasn't a song ranting about Mary-Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton.. It was what she thought was wrong with the people today. Again, SPEAKING HER MIND. don't pretend you never ranted about something you wished could change. I Love You P!nk

obama | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/28/13

I believe obama is one of the best in history. And yes he does tell alot about his acheivements he should be happy. He is the first African American president in the united states of what hes proud he is doing a whle lot more than bush did.he hadnt cheated on his wife,he is trying to make schools better but cheaper costs for kids and he is trying to fix this mess all the presidents before him got us into so lasts time i checked hes doing his chores plus five more peoples chores too so what hre had a few soliders fighting because he s trying to help other people he doesnt want to see people go down and u might say those soliders are suppose tiio br fighting for us well they are. because how much stuff is getting made in china and all these others countries. it takes the whole world to run a country. not just a country can take care of themselves all people affect everyone whether u can see or feel. so get off a brother's back instead iof putting him down u should be helping him up to help everybody win their victories in life

Punk | Reviewer: Eric | 9/8/12

I don’t like Pink, never did. She’s rude, arrogant, immature, spiteful, bitter, obnoxious and mean-spirited, and she’s got a tongue that could slash a giant sequoia in a single stroke. She has such a rebellious, pugnatious, sneering attitude, her name should be Punk instead of Pink. And perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in this hate letter dripping with venom that she calls “the most important song she ever wrote”.

It’s no secret that Bush-bashing has become a national pastime ever since he was first elected, especially for the mainstream media and 99 percent of Hollywood, and I have no doubt that it was this very hatred of Bush that not only moved Punk to write this letter but also helped the Dixie Chicks win five Grammys for “Not Ready To Make Nice”.

No president can ever please everybody, but here’s what I find so ironic. George W. Bush worked hard (yes, he DOES understand hard work, Punk) to stand up for what was right, to defend unborn life and defend our country, and with his leadership our soldiers took down an evil dictator and helped bring him to justice, and freed 50 million people from oppression...and most people hate him! Bill Clinton, on the other hand, pulled all kinds of shenanigans, piled scandal after scandal upon himself (remember his IMPEACHMENT?) and spent more time fooling around with his intern than defending the country...and most people LOVE him! You know the question: What’s wrong with this picture? Clinton had more than one chance to put Bin Laden away, and what did he do? NOTHING! And look how Bin Laden thanked us! Talk about not knowing the meaning of hard work! Maybe Bush wouldn’t have had to bring us into war if Clinton had done his job in the first place! 9/11 would have been just another day! 3,000 lives in NYC and a lot of soldier’s lives would have been spared! What do you think about THAT, Punk?!

Punk didn’t really have anything new to say. Just the same tired, stale, tedious liberal left-wing drivel we’ve heard over and over.

“Bush is Hitler and everything that’s wrong with this country is his fault.”

“If you’re against abortion, you’re declaring war on women, and if you don’t approve of gay marriage, you’re a bigot.”

It’s so hypocritical of her to say to Bush “I care about our country’s children and you don’t” when she herself so heartily supports a so-called “right” to kill children in the womb! It’s so mind-boggling, not to mention appalling, that these same people who criticize, condemn and crucify Bush for the loss of 5,000 soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan think it’s totally acceptable that 55 MILLION CHILDREN have been killed in the womb over the last four decades! THAT’S TWICE THE POPULATION OF TEXAS! And she says Laura Bush needs to be ashamed of him? Give me a freakin’ break!

“You’ve come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.”

Number one, he gave all that up LONG before he took office and hasn't touched it since, and number two, Punk has had more than her own share of addictions and outrageous behavior, so who the hell is she to talk?!

Seems to me that every time she’s got one finger pointing at Bush she’s got four pointed right back at herself! Pure hypocrisy!

Wow!!! | Reviewer: Dearmrpresident | 4/6/12

I love this song!!! She is so right about everything she said! If I had a chance to ask the president questions, it would be the same one she sung!!!! I love pink, I love her attitude and songs!!!! This song is number one! She wrote this song for BUSH! I know a lot of ppl wanted answers to those questions. I loved how she took advantage of her role and sung Americans voice!!!!!

Jennette Says... | Reviewer: Jennettte | 2/22/11

WHat the hell? Are some people out there about to question this song? I may be from AUstralia, (btw hey random aussie from before!) but I love this song, she's right, she's so right. If I were an AMerican, and aware of the 'goings on' at that time, it would have been my anthem. But wheres the proof? In anything... ??

wow | Reviewer: allizon | 11/5/10

wow I'm shocked at what i read her in this review section... pink wrote this song for BUSH.. does anybody remember hurricane Katrina, ppl lost their homes, family because bush took his merry old time to send for help FOR OUR PPL he let Americans sink, our own ppl..... him and his VP promote anti gay marriages while the chenny's daughter is gay once again FUCKING HIS OWN ppl, as for the war I'm a nurse and the worst hospitals and nursing care facilities are the V.A places if you don't believe me go volunteer at your nearest V.A. home where you see these brave men and women who have risked their lives for our country are cared for as if they were the enemy it's hart broken to see these veterans sitting in their own feces , or eating slop cause our GOVERNMENT need to cut expenses ........... and as for that dumb ass TEEN who said poor ppl need to get a job, they did have jobs as well as FOUGHT for your freedom... yes dummy, your freedom cause most of the HOMELESS ppl were u.s military that has had some type of ptst and their benefits didn't cover ptst because the government refused to except that murdering all the ppl and seeing all the horror the u.s military saw would cause them to have some sort of mental brake down..... as an American we fight for freedom but never at any point should the government care and cater to another countries needs while their own American citizens suffer so i applaud pink's song because she is singing about what most ppl don't hear about.... all politicians lie thats how they get into office is by the lies they tell, but do we really want a man running our country who will sell his own blood out just to win office? anti gay marriage is a rude and raciest act done by the American government, that is like the government saying no one can marry a black or a Jew or a Asian that is not for the government to judge if gay is wrong then god will judge not some drunken coke head...........

another point of view | Reviewer: ebs | 10/28/10

im fro australia and so we dont necessarily see things the way all of you have experienced them. but from what i can tell bush got america into poverty, obama is getting them out. pink has the rights to voice her opinion just the same as the rest of us. i applaud anyone who can get up in front of a mic and sing their heart and mind. the lyrics "you've come a long way from whisky and cocaine" arent saying that you shouldnt overcome addictions, because you should, but more so that you can do better and get better at anything you set your mind to.
honnieberrie, how can he be mentaly ill for trying to get the country out of debt. we see this from the australian point of view, we have had "bad" government and "good" government just the same as america. quit complaining coz even if he does have a mental illness, so does about half the population.

I Hearts PINK | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/18/10

Anyone who works hard for there money has all the right to keep it! If people are poor then they should find a job! People are poor for many reasons. There alot of americans who could stop them from being sooooo poor or what ever. They could of stayed in school and get a good job like the rich people! Im not rich but i know my dad works hard for the money he provids for me and my family! Why should we give up our money we work for for people who are to lazy to work? I love pink and idk what president this song is talking about put i personaly think its about Obama.

THE TRUTH | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/31/10

i think the song says a lot about what's going on in this country and our president. it is ture when they say the rich stays rich and the poor stays poor. that ass hole he got richer and cost us so much. so those are who running ur mouth about pick should mind her own bussines, must me the ones who r air headed who r not felt the pain a mother felt lossing her child, a mother lossing her husband and a child lossing a parent. for what? the things that dumb president of yours done. SO PINK THANK Y FOR VOICING UR WORDS, THE HATERS FUCK UR SELVES.

okay... | Reviewer: rachel | 6/11/10

so we are blaming one man for all of life's unfair happenings? one man created poverty and war? that's ridiculous. How about some solutions or give your huge paychecks to those in need instead of downing one man.
"sure came a long way from whiskey and cocaine.." so now a man can't overcome addictions to do something great like become president? narrow.

DO YOU MISS HIM YET? I DO! | Reviewer: Honeyberrie | 3/31/10

I did not vote for Obama. I admit I wasn't sure what he was,or was not. I just know I felt real anxiety about him being our President. In those early days of his presidency ,when he childishly threw a tantrum about giving up his Blackberrie , I felt sick. That seemingly was a small thing but part of a ladder of things he climbed with anger ,hatefully not accepting even the most common rules set forth in the administration to keep us safe and him safe.
You people who think Obama is great; are as ill as he is. There is no question about how great he is at ruining this wonderful "Country" which he never should have been allowed to be in. He in my opinion , is mentally ill. There is no pill to fix him.He is insanely greedy for power. The day may come that he becomes a true Dictator. Then what will you say? Then what will you do? You will not be special to him.He will throw you under the bus so fast. His march in that direction has began. There are not enough prisons to put us in that disagree, so what do you think his plan is? When the Czar's knock on your door and your Family needs protection, do you think they will help you? No, they will come to administer disaster. I hope I am wrong. God Bless America!
