Dead Can Dance Lyrics

Introduction
Since our formation in 1981, we have refused to conform to
the momentary passing of musical trends choosing instead
more demanding avenues of expression, adopting diverse
musical traditions and tailoring them to our own needs.
This has often caused consternation to those who would
attempt to classify our music. In the beginning we were
berated for being gothic two years too late, today we are
applauded for being at the vanguard of World Music. Whoever

Review about Dead Can Dance songs

------ About the song The Host of Seraphim performed by Dead Can Dance

Love that movie the Mist, and the ending was definitely made better by this song. I know the singer is Lisa Gerrard and considering everything else she sings I'm pretty sure the song is in Bulgarian. But I can't find ANY lyrics even in the bulgarian language let alone something written phonetically

------ About the song The Host of Seraphim performed by Dead Can Dance

I also immediately got drawn to this song when I watched the mist + fortunately with the world at our fingertips I was able to find out the title. However like yourself I cannot place any English words & also agree with the Arabic influence. Now I have to find what other music they have produced :) Emma

Awesome track! Are there actual words? | Reviewer: Barry M. Lamont, M.D.
------ About the song The Host of Seraphim performed by Dead Can Dance

I first encountered this track in the movie The Mist (Stephen King story adapted by Frank Darabont), where it plays - very effectively - as a Requiem for the end of the world. It is also included in the two-disc Dead Can Dance career overview anthology, "Wake"; the set comes with a booklet listing the lyrics of many of the tracks, but not this one, even though there is some very powerful vocalization. There are no ENGLISH lyrics that I can make out, but given their vast range of influences - Renaissance to modern, Celtic to Arabic - perhaps they are singing/chanting in Latin, Arabic, Gaelic, or some other language. If anyone knows, I would love to hear from them; and if you haven't heard this track, listen to it - preferably on a system with a good subwoofer, because there is an awesome low organ pedal!

------ About the song I Am Stretched On Your Grave performed by Dead Can Dance

Dead Can Dance - I am stretched on your grave ---Sooo beautiful, haunting and atmospheric. I have only recently come across Dead Can Dance, but they really are fantastic, Song of the Sibyl, and Host of Seraphim are more of my favourites

Haunting Lyrics by themselves | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song I Am Stretched On Your Grave performed by Dead Can Dance

The performance of this lament/dirge exceeds that of the one by Sinead O'Connor. The lyrics themselves are more chilling than Poe's "Annabelle Lee", but the range and emotional content of this song as performed by "Dead Can Dance" is a exceptional. The theme and the range of vocals are carried well. This has always been a favorite of mine.

Her Voice | Reviewer: Victor
------ About the song The Arrival and the Reunion performed by Dead Can Dance

This song has the power of ten thousand dragons, and they're all spewing fire from her mouth, the lead singer. The tremolo at the beginning of the song could bring down the Golden Gate, the almost desperate sadness of her voice causes hearts to skip beats.
