I remember when I was told a story of
crushed velvet, candle wax, and dried up flowers.
The figure on the bed,
all dressed up in roses, calling...
beckoning to sleep...offering a dream.
The words were as mystical as purring animals
The circle of rage...the ghosts on the stage appeared.
The time was so tangible I'll never let it go.
Ghost stories handed down, reached secret tunnels below.
No one could see me.
I fell into yesterday.
Our dreams seemed not far away.
I want to, I want to, I want to stay
I fell into fantasy.
The words were as mystical as purring animals.
The circle of rage...the ghosts on the stage appeared.
The time was so tangible, I'll never let it go.
Ghost stories handed down, reached secret tunnels below.
No one could see me.
I fell into yesterday.
Our dreams seemed not far away.
I want to, I want to, I want to stay.
I fell into fantasy.
The girl on the wall always waited for me
and she was always smiling.
The teenage death boys, the teenage death girls...
and everyone was dancing.
Nothing could touch us then,
no one could change us then, and everyone was dancing.
Nothing could hurt us then, no one could see us then,
and everyone was dancing.
Everyone was dancing.
No one could see me.
I fell into yesterday.
Our dreams seemed not far away.
I want to, I want to, I want to stay
I fell into fantasy.
Our dreams seemed not far away.
Our dreams seemed not far away.
Our dreams seemed not far away.

Review about Days of the Phoenix dude... | Reviewer: jollie | 10/18/09
fuck afi fans they all have no idea what they are talking about anymore all the kids that just found them from MTV and mainstream radio know nothing of the real AFI. and when were they Asking For It? they were Anthems For Insubordinates on Very Proud of Ya, and Answer That and Stay Fashionable if i recall correctly.
Phoenix Theater | Reviewer: Lindsey Marie | 9/29/09
This song is about the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA. I go there quite often actually. Davey talks about the ghost that haunts the balcony and the alleged underground tunnels beneath the venue. All true ghost stories around here and have been around for decades. Davey attends the phoenix regularly and a few years ago I saw him there just listening to music like everyone else. Truly inspiring that he still himself and fame hasn't gone to his head.
this is not old school AFI. This is post Black Sails, post All Hallow's EP, post Very proud of ya, and post whatever their first album was called. I reminisce on the days when AFI stood for Asking For It and not A Fire Inside. ugh.
EAST BAY HARDCORE!!!
.... | Reviewer: Helena | 8/9/09
Let us hope that AFI will be able to return to their place at the top of the musical heap, and leave their perch alongside My Chemical Romance and Nightwish as bands that were once emotive and completely kickass, and are now just... emo.
Great | Reviewer: Brandon | 10/1/08
This is AFI in its original and pure style.... I love this song it was AFI particular punk with a little bit of goth style too bad they're basically pop now all their older albums were great now they're just... common.
Great. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/26/08
I love this song. I also love the new stuff like Decemberunderground, I don't get why you guys hate it!! It's not bad... it's really good! I might buy this album and I might just buy the song on iTunes. Either way I want it on my iPod.
Not that unique | Reviewer: kc | 7/15/08
You need to listen to the old misfits, and sam hain, black flag and the like. AFI is AFI but through most of the old stuff, the only draw was the lyric content which was akin to that of older bands and that fact that he sounds like a mini danzig at times. Plus immortalmaera, you need to actually listen to guitar riffs, this stuff is pretty standard punk, nothing innovative here, I now you are clouded with the illusion of awe with these guys, but come'on, not a style... yeesh
This song was actually based off a teen hangout/ concert hall. Before AFI was really famous they played at the Phoenix. The line about the girl smiling on the wall is actually about a mural on the wall of the place I believe. The place is located in northern cali. Bummed I never got a chance to go there myself.
Hell Yeah. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/8/08
This song was A.F.I.
Miss Murder is Alright.
This song and "Dream Of Waking" are AFI's true style. they're too emo and kinda crappy now. they've changed a lot, and they're not too interesting now.
but back when Art Of Drowning came out, that was pure Punk AFI.
my life | Reviewer: julie | 11/12/07
