David Crosby Lyrics

The singular odyssey of David Crosby remains one of the
more remarkable tales in the annals of music history. As a
founding member of the pioneering American groups the Byrds
and Crosby, Stills & Nash, he helped create and popularize
the highly influential folk-rock sound, forging the richly
harmonic, radiantly acoustic approach which defined the
West Coast music scene for years to follow; he also sold
millions of records and enjoyed a cultural impact equaled
by few of his contemporaries. Yet despite his often
overwhelming success, More...

Review about David Crosby songs
Let's not forget Jerry. | Reviewer: Bruce Stark
------ About the song Cowboy Movie performed by David Crosby

From the "If only I could remember my name" LP and another studio version is on David Crosby'S "Voyage" cd set. Didn't catch my ear until I heard the live version. Jerry Garcia's jams are unmistakeable. Jerry at his best. A truly hypnotic blusey rock piece that has long been overlooked, along with "Dogs and Kids" and "Laughing."

One of those great songs... | Reviewer: Eric C. Gnagey, MT-BC
------ About the song Hero performed by David Crosby

I remember first hearing this song when I was very young. I couldn't have been out of 3rd grade yet. I just remember the raw emotion I felt in the melody and the lyrics. Does anyone know what the inspiration for the song was? I would appreciate any direction on this.

CSNY's breakup | Reviewer: Bob
------ About the song Cowboy Movie performed by David Crosby

Story is vague but you can tell that Eli = Stephen Stills (fastest gunner or lead guitar player), Fat Albert is David Crosby (with his "12 gauge shotgun" or 12 string guitar), Duke the dynamiter is Neil Young (fights with Eli for control of the girl and of the group/band and kind of spiced up CSNY with unique guitar style, arrangments and known for solo songs leaning towards heavier rock) Young Billy = Graham Nash is the sentry who finds the indian girl (he apparently had a way with the ladies in Crosby's eyes). Indian Girl is Rita Coolidge who went with Stills but left him for Nash causing CSNY's initial breakup. She says her name is Raven, this was her nickname and used in a Stills song about her on his solo and manassas albums.

He played real good for free is worth its weight in gold | Reviewer: Anonymous
------ About the song He Played Real Good For Free performed by David Crosby

This is one of the greatest songs never released by CSNY. It appears as a live version on the Allies Album. I have never been able to get a good copy of this song and wished it became available. The words, the tune and the message transcends the music world and depicts all of those struggling to make a name for themselves.

a million tear-stained eyes | Reviewer: denni
------ About the song Somehow She Knew performed by David Crosby

This song should be immortalized in stone.
Very few songs depict the pain felt by those who have lost a loved one as sensitively as this one.
I think it's among the best by David Crosby.
It brings tears to my eyes.
A heart-wrenching song of loss and love.

Now that's a story! | Reviewer: Ralph cosentino
------ About the song Cowboy Movie performed by David Crosby

I always loved this song. The bass which I will assume is Phil Lesh really sets the stage. Outside of some Dylan I can't think of a better story put to music.
