David Byrne Lyrics

BORN: May 14, 1952, Dumbarton, Scotland

David Byrne was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, on 14 May
1952. When he was 2 years old, his parents moved to Canada
at the expense of a company that was recruiting engineers
and semi-scientists from Europe. When David was 8 or 9
years old, his parents moved again, this time to the
suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland.

In September 1970, David went straight from High School to
the Rhode Island School Of Design. It was here that he met

------ About the song DON'T FENCE ME IN (Cole Porter) performed by David Byrne

Ellae, a hobble is a device placed on a horse's legs to keep it from wandering. And it is the word in the original lyrics. If you read about it on Wikipedia, you will see that it fits perfectly with the tone and subject of the song.

------ About the song DON'T FENCE ME IN (Cole Porter) performed by David Byrne

Please note: the line is "gaze at the moon until I lose my senses" . Loose rhymes with goose and it means not tight or snug. Lose means to accidentally be rid of something.

And it's "I can look at hovels and I can't stand fences". Hobble is what you do when you can't walk straight because of injury or pain. A hovel is a small, low cost place to live, often associated with being dirty or part of a slum.

Otherwise... Thank you for the lyrics! I don't always remember them all the way through and appreciate being able to find them, regardless of the minor errors. <3

------ About the song DON'T FENCE ME IN (Cole Porter) performed by David Byrne

I was in a water aerobics class of about 12 octogenarians when I noticed a strong swelling of voices on this chorus the first time, the second time I turned my head and openly admired the set of their jaws, their upward gaze and get attitude as they firmly
extolled, "Don't Fence Me In!" This was Your Generation, Mary Foster, they have seen much, have lived much and wanted no one to mistake their message either -- as you so aptly put it. Thank you and your entire beautiful generation, we feminists stood on your shoulders and owe your much gratitude for the fortitude.

------ About the song DON'T FENCE ME IN (Cole Porter) performed by David Byrne

I have loved this song since I was a child, and I am 78 right now. This song has been my theme song all my life. I'm a contrary, independant woman and I will not tolerate anyone trying to possess or control me. Just let me be me!

------ About the song UNDER HEAVY MANNERS (Fripp/Byrne) performed by David Byrne

I first heard this song when I was a freshman at IUP Indiana, PA in 1979, while tripping with one of the hippies down the hall from my dorm room. It bedazzled and befuddled our minds, and to hear it again after over thirty years brought back such a flood of great memories......Fripp and Byrne are amazing!

------ About the song Like Humans Do performed by David Byrne

L'Analyste Universel, using another language to name yourself does not make you any less of an arrogant bastard. I happen to like this song, so please (here I beg of you) do not spoil it for myself and others.
I like that the song does NOT mention ills. It's not they don't occur, Lu. Can I call you that? I'm going to. I expect it may make you feel small. On tangent again, it is more that the respite provided by this song uplfits me.
My netbook, I thank you for having this song already on your harddrive before purchase. This song is excellent and I love hearing it, on repeat, with the original and best lyrics. David Byrne's, of course.
Kudos.

First of all whoever corrected the lyrics these are correct for the censored version and secondly whoever wrote different lyrics, the feeling i got from your review was you firstly stole it and secondly you over-harshly critiqued it by over-analyzing it with intent to under-analyze it to make it appear shallow when really it isn't just a asininely written song exposing flaws it's accepting humanity even though it is flawed and continues to mess up and those lyrics were almost a good song but since i knew why they were written, when i read them they didn't seem good because they were so aimed at proving "your" point

------ About the song Like Humans Do performed by David Byrne

this sounds like a song that would come with the computer!!!!!

Anyway, the lyrics in the second verse are incorrect:

"we're eatin' off plates and we kiss with our tongue"
should be
"I never watch TV, except when I'm stoned"
