Image Of The Invisible Lyrics

Review The Song (29)Print the Lyrics

We're more than carbon and chemicals
We are the image of the invisible
Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible
We can't allow this, the quiet cull
We are the image of the invisible
So we sing out this, our canticle
We are the image of the invisible

[Chorus:]
We all were lost now we are found
No one can stop us or slow us down
We are the named and we are known
We know that we'll never walk alone

We're more than static and dial tone
We are the image of the invisible
We're emblematic of the unknown
We are the image of the invisible
So raise the banner, bend back your bows
We are the image of the invisible
Remove the cancer, take back your souls
We are the image of the invisible

[Chorus]

Though all the world may hate us, we are named
The shadow overtake us, we are known

We're more than carbon and chemicals
Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible
We're more than carbon and chemicals
We are the image of the invisible
Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible
We can't allow this, the quiet cull
We are the image of the invisible
So we sing out this, our canticle
We are the image of the invisible

[Chorus x2]

Raise up the banner, bend back your bows
Remove the cancer, take back your souls

Review about Image Of The Invisible

Trufax, I Swears! | Reviewer: Paul | 5/28/09

The lyrics of the song are undeniably Christian. Proof? Collosians 1:15 (NIV) says "We are the image of the invisible God." With the conspicuous exception of the word "God," the concept, title, and tagline of the song are directly lifted from a Bible verse.

And that's coming from a a died-in-the-wool atheist. Get over it.

Also, @anonymous and the Phaedo...extremely fascinating. I like to see comments such as this, just to prove to myself that one doesn't lose 50 IQ points upon logging into the internet.

Invisible Children | Reviewer: Paige | 4/27/09

This is for The Invisible Children, the abducted and brainwashed child soldiers of Joseph Kony in Uganda. The Invisible Children is the awareness, help, and hope to end the longest running war. The Invisible Children is there to save these innocent children that leave home every night, miles away, so they are not kidnapped and forced to join the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army). Thank you, Thrice, for writing this wonderful and powerful song to help raise awareness. <3

As to Gabriel, I say a loud (liberal Christian) "Amen". Ahem, not everything is religious. Not all bands have to have their songs relating to them.
I've heard fundamentalist Christian people try to rationalize listening to Metallica by saying they were a Christian band. Oh, please. IT IS OK if you're listening to metal or non-Christian bands, got it? Let's calm down.
Other than that, awesome. End of discussion. Lovely song.

I do think this is a christian related sing for the lyrics and title "Image of the Invisible" which I think is refering to the Bible. Colosians 1:15-16- "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."

Pfft | Reviewer: Gabriel | 3/15/09

As far as anyone knows, they are experimental, post hardcore, and melodic hardcore.

You can be christian, and not make christian music. You can believe in no god what so ever and make christian music.

I've heard a lot of speculations about the subject of the song, most people say it has to do with prisioners of major wars/genocides. Kind of like Germany in WWII and other foreign wars. I'm not saying religion isn't beautiful, or mystical or any of that crap -is Agnostic Roman Catholic as is most of his father's and mother's side- its just I'm tired of people trying to give every single thing a root in religion. IT IS MUSIC, made for being listened to, and enjoyed.

It could be with god or against god, doesn't make a difference. Its a damn good song, that's all anyone needs to know about it.

Grace, whether you think so or not, the teachings that Christians are taught are beautiful. The combination of great musicians, such as Thrice, and the teachings can sometimes produce some of the greatest work. Whether you are Christian or not, every human being has some longing to be around one another; its a fact of human nature.

Oh well... | Reviewer: Grace | 12/21/08

It saddens me that this is another of Christian influence. Not that I have anything against that, it's just it seems as though every time a song really, really sings to me, it's somehow something that I'm not...

Important Info about Thrice | Reviewer: Eric | 11/24/08

Just so everyone knows, the lead singer of Thrice (Dustin Kensrue) is a Christian. If you don't believe me do some research and look up his solo project, which is listed under his name: Dustin Kensrue. Also notice that Thrice has covered the Christian themed song Come All You Weary. So, Image of The Invisible is probably in some way influenced by Christian beliefs. I have also heard that it is referring to the Invisible Children Organization, an organization that's mission is to increase awareness and raise money to help less fortunate Children in poor and war torn countries.
