DON'T LET IT SHOW Lyrics - Pat Benatar

Review The Song (3)

If it's getting harder to face everyday
Don't Let It Show, Don't Let It Show
Though it's getting harder to take what they say
Just let it go, just let it go

And if it hurts when they mention my name
Say you don't know me
And if it helps when they say I'm to blame
Say you don't own me

ooh...

Even if it's taking the easy way out
Keep it inside of you
Don't give in
Don't tell them anything

Don't Let It
Don't Let It Show

Even though you know it's the wrong thing to say

Say you don't care, say you don't care
Even if you want to believe there's a way
I won't be there, I won't be there

But if you smile when they mention my name
They'll never know you
And if you laugh when they say I'm to blame
They'll never own you

ooh...

Even though you think you've got nothing to hide
Keep it inside of you
Don't give in
Don't tell them anything

Don't Let It
Don't Let It Show

Even though you think you've got nothing to hide
Keep it inside of you
Don't give in
Don't tell them anything

Don't Let It
Don't Let It Show

Pat Benatars Greatest Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/19/2007

I know lots of people would argue that point with me and that's OK, personal preference is the corner-stone of music. It's too bad that "Rated X" got all the air time from this album, it was Pats break out song but "Don't let it Show" was the song everyone wanted to hear at the parties.

Pat Benatars powerful voice will suck you into this song and surround you like a cocoon. She manages to dig up long forgotten memories that leave you emotionally exhausted by the end.

I've heard the Alan Parsons version of the song and although it's good, it falls far short of the majestic song Pat Benatar delivers ... of course that's just my opinion.

Don't Know who did it first | Reviewer: Ken | 6/27/2007

The song was on Pats "In The Heat Of The Night" album, which i believe came out in 1978. It is an awesomely emotional song and Pat does it quite well, showing her operatic training

Pat Benatar remake of an Alan Parsons Song? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/20/2007

Greets,
I was enjoying browsing your site when I read the song title "Don't Let It Show" & was a little surprised to see credit for the song given to Pat Benatar. It's one of my all time favorite songs which I heard for the first time in 1978 at an Alan Parsons concert in Germany. Alan Parsons was more popular in Germany & England than it was as in the US. I brought a few of his albums home with me & still like to play them every so often like a walk down memory lane. Our kids couldn't figure-out how it worked & my husband and I were almost rolling on the floor laughing till our sides hurt when our youngest asked where was the port to plug it into the computer to download music to play on it!
Back on topic, I can't remember ever hearing it done by another artist, Pat Benatar included. To be totally honest I doubt anyone other than Alan Parsons could sing it since there is so much emotion in the song. Does anyone know if Pat Benatar recorded it as a remake of the original? I'd like to get a copy of the album she recorded it on as it must be one of the very few of her albums which I do not have.
Thanks for letting me ramble-on & I'll say goodbye for now as I'm headed back to your main site to continue reading the plethora of information you've kindly taken a long time to make available to the rest of us! Great job & great site.
Blessed Be,
Maegi
