I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call a geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I have braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels to cry myself to sleep
I'm that kid on every playground
Who's always chosen last
A single teenage mother
Tryin' to overcome my past
You don't have to be my friend
But is it too much to ask
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm the beggar on the corner
You've passed me on the street
And I wouldn't be out here beggin'
If I had enough to eat
And don't think I don't notice
That our eyes never meet
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey, aren't we all
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me

Review about DON'T LAUGH AT ME Thank you for the lyrics to "Don't laugh at me" song | Reviewer: Lyle Lexier | 11/22/09
My girlfriend introduced me to this song. It is her favourite song of Peter, Paul, and Mary. She really loves that group.
I am wanting to learn this melody, not just the lyrics. It must be a good song. Hopefully one day very soon I will have the chance to learn the song.
There is a lot of thuth in this song | Reviewer: Tom B. | 9/24/09
This is an excellent song and VERY well written. I am a parent of two special need children. When I heard this song, I thought of all the pain that my kids had to go through in and out of school. It is heart wrenching for me to realize that this song has so much truth in it. I think that school districts all over America should develope acceptance classes based off this song
The first time I heard this song was at my daughter's school assembly. It was so moving it makes the tears fall and gives me goosebumps every time. This song really covers all bases and should be broadcasted over the radio!
A couple of years ago, my daughter and I saw Peter Yarrow performing this song. She sat in her chair and sang with him. He looked at her and her head was down facing her lap. I cried. For her bat mitzvah she and a friend are singing this song.
Great!!!!!!! | Reviewer: Chrisitina | 3/1/08
I am a highschool student and a man named Paul Failla came to talk to my grade. He played this wonderful song for us and I relized what the words really meant. Thank you for showing me and others about the true way of life.

When I purchased this book to use for a graduate education course, I never realized how far it would extend!
Thanks for providing me with the seeds of some great lessons. (And thanks just as much for years of incredible music!!! Glad I'm old enough to have always appreciated the lyrics and the music!!)
This song is very moving and oh the truth it tells! I've presented it to my principal (I work as a school nurse in the public schools in Shoreline Washington). Apparently there is a curriculum that goes along with this song. Thank you for addressing the need for a song that speaks with truth regarding our behavior to others. I am hoping that our music teacher will teach this song in her curriculum.
