DARE Lyrics - Gorillaz

Review The Song (32)

It's coming up,
It's coming up,
It's coming up,
It's coming up,
It's coming up,
It's coming up,
It's coming up...
It's DARE.

It's DARE.

You've got to press it on you -
You just think it,
That's what you do, baby.
Hold it down, DARE.

Jump with them all and move it,
Jump back and forth
And feel like you were there yourself.

Stop being a prick, music is an art, which in turn is open to interpretation by any single listener. It's not up to you how people take this song. I can personally see where the drug theory comes from

ok I HAVE to say this | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/29/12

I read a review below me and im shaking my head. Why is EVERY song in the world about drugs? It has NOTHING to do with drugs whatsoever. ALL songs are never about drugs unless it's obvious. Drugs act as inspiration, not a topic for the song sop drug references in music may be present. That doesnt mean its about drugs. Good lord. I'm sick of all you people who think artists write about drugs. Uness the song is "hits from the bong." or "dr green thumb." or more rap related or "cocaine." etc... its not about drugs. If a song is about drugs. You'll know, not think.

God this reminds me of the time someone told me Third eye by tool was about drugs. My response? You sir... are an idiot. Because only idiots judge what a song is about.. and only hear like 25% of the lyrics.

actually, if you watched noodle's interview. it's about the madchester scene in the 80's, she wanted someone mancunian/salfordian to sing with her so she got the feeling, which pointed to shaun ryder. The song was meant to be called ''it's there'' but, due to shaun ryder's salford accent, it sounded like ''dare''

[coming from a true salford bird]

Something. | Reviewer: Who The Heck Cares What My Name Is? | 11/16/09

It's a song about taking drugs for the first time. It should be rather obvious. Plus, the video sorta makes it seem like they are on drugs. (Plus, at the end of the video Murdoc has a dream where he's in bed with the head in the closet. One word: DRUGS.)

Come ON People! | Reviewer: R3ll@ | 10/15/09

I love this song to pieces! Makes you want to get up and dance! Gorillaz is an awesome band :)

But I'm getting tired of coming to this page and seeing the obvious mistake in the lyrics. People keep changing it back! The lyrics are actually "It's there" not "It's dare" the only reason it's called Dare is the fact that Shaun Ryder's voice makes it sound like he's saying "It's dare"

D.A.R.E. (?) | Reviewer: sophie | 9/13/09

haha, i totally agree with you, i was starting to think that there weren't any thinking minds in this web page hahaha....
ok, so, the first time i red the lyrics i obviously thought it was about sex... but what i don't understand is the connection between the video clip and the song. anyway, what's that D.A.R.E. thing all about?

Noodle wrote the sonq and she didn't want anyone in her music vedio but her the man in her closet was the ft artist 2d had his head to the floor cause he was tryinq to hear the music(he didn't kno wut was qoinq on) noodle didn't tell the other band members she was makinq a music vedio -russel was on the toliet cause he didn't kno and merdoc was sleep in his camper that's why aht the end he woke up because of all the noise noodle was makinq

What the heck? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/2/09

I was watching the video for the song, and I didn't get it: What the heck was a singing head doing in Noodle's closet? What the heck was the reason behind 2-D shoving his face on the floor? And what the heck did they end it with Murdoc waking up???

Clublanders will know... | Reviewer: SyCo | 8/28/08

I think this song is totally about X. "I'm comming up" drug [arlance for the drug effect hitting, th=d so "it's dare" is really "it's there", the drug has hit. Anyone who ever took pills back in the day knows that feeling. "Hold it down, Dare (there)" is reference to not losing control of the feeling. It's a song about coming up in a club and feeling free to be yourself.

its tight | Reviewer: Ninja08 | 8/16/08

i think that the song is the best song that the gorrilaz have made its not some regular song like a dance theme thing screw the ppl who think its about that other crap. Y would the gorrilaz do that anyway

Utterly brilliant!!! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/11/08

It is just a fucking fantastic record. Utterly brilliant. Damon Albarn is a songwriting genius, but what do you expect from someone born on March 23rd.

When do you reckon my birthday is then? lol.

Good fun | Reviewer: OscarOrtiz.Com | 4/3/08

This song is like a painting: open to interpretation. What do I get out of it? I think the lyric is just an excuse for an excellent arrangement. The phrases are just brush strokes to keep the piece together. Obviously they were having a lot of fun while creating it and that's exactly the feeling it transmits. There's nothing perverted or twisted in it but what your mind wants to invent.

-Writing Back- | Reviewer: get a life off the internet | 12/23/07

have you even read the lyrics? it has nothing that makes you think the song is about having sex straight away... even those other ppl.. they only have an inkling... they are 100% sure... i dont know who told ur friend that but get them to read the lyrics and they have in their Ipod in a week

I love this song! | Reviewer: Larry K | 12/5/07

I just listened to this song for the first time 3 days ago. I'm obsessed with it. I danced to this song while I was in the shower.

How you could possibly think this song was about sex is beyond me. I think it's either a song about dancing or being yourself. Hell, it could be both!
