Cross The Line Lyrics - Superchick

Review The Song (5)

Follow the leader, stay in the lines
What will people think of what you've done this time?

Go with the crowd, surely somebody knows
Why we're all wearing the emperor's clothes
Play it safe, play by the rules
Or don't play at all - what if you lose?
That's not the secret, but I know what is:
Everybody dies but not everyone lives

I'm gonna ride like I've got the cops on my tail
I'm gonna live my life like I'm out on bail

I'm gonna be out front, gonna blaze a trail
I'm gonna cross that line

Everybody freeze - don't step over the line
Don't stand up, they'll shoot down the first one who tries
Try to change the world, they'll think you're out of your mind
Revolutions start when someone crosses the line
sponsored links
They want us to lie down, give into the lie
Nothing has to change, and no one has to die
That's not the secret, but I know what is:
Everybody dies, but not everyone lives

This song sounds like a secular song. In fact, this song was played in our church last weekend and I was completely shocked. My family and I just looked at each other in disbelief. Because there are no words of praise to God at all in this song, instead the words, "I'm gonna ride like I've got the cops on my tail. I'm gonna live my life like I'm out on bail." We assumed a secular song was being played in church. This song is disappointing knowing now that it's coming from a Christian band. Its a bad choice in lyrics when you're trying to send out a message of Christ in a world that's already confused.

I think that all of Superchick's songs are great, and i especially love the christian messages in them. I recomend them to everyone who would except the christion message as an important lesson. Superchick has just made one more song to keep me a fan!!!!

Superchic[k] has another awesome song yet again. This song is great. I love how it tells us just to be ourselves and not follow the crowd! A really great song. I agree that we as christians are on bail until our ultimate pardon. Great job Superchic[k].

Absolutely wonderful use of simile here.
Nowhere in the song does it advocate doing anything illegal. It is saying that she wants to have the same fervor escaping the prisons that this world has for you soul (sin, apathy, etc) of someone "running from the cops". Why should the "bad guys" get all the energy and motivation? On a side note, we are breaking laws, political correctness, social order, stuff like that.

Finally, the Out on Bail is a reference to not knowing when your productivity will end, we are to live like its going to be soon. As Christians we are out on bail until our ultimate pardon.
This song Rocks!

I love this song- it has a wonderful message. One problem I have with it though, is the following lines of the chorus.
"I'm gonna ride like I've got the cops on my tail
I'm gonna live my life like I'm out on bail"

In modern America, (which, Superchic[K] is a modern-American band, playing modern-American Christian) music, riding like "you've got the cops on your tail" is considered a bad thing. If you have the police on your tail, it is almost always a bad thing. Running away from them is worse. Living your life like "you're out on bail", means that you did something to get into jail. Which is also another bad thing. It means you broke the law, probably from running from the cops.

Overall, it's a good song.
