Pearl Jam Crazy Mary Lyrics

Last updated: 04/08/2011 11:00:00 AM

She lived on the curve in the road in an old tar paper shack.
On the south side of the town on the wrong side of the tracks.
Sometimes on the way into town we'd say, "Mama can we stop and give her a ride?"
Sometimes we did but her hands flew from her side.
Wild eyed crazy Mary.

Down a long dirt road past the Parson's place.
That old blue car we used to race.
Little country store with a sign tacked to the side.
Underneath that sign always congregated quite a crowd.

Take a bottle drink it down. Pass it around.
Take a bottle drink it down. Drink it... Pass it around. Pass it a...
A-take a bottle drink it down. Pass it... Pass it a... Pass it around.

One night thunder cracked. Mercy backed outside her windowsill.
Dreamed I was flying high above the trees over the hills.
Looked down into the house of Mary.
Bare bulb on Newspaper covered walls. And Mary rising up above it all.
Oh... Oh... Oh...

Next morning on the way into town saw some skid marks and followed them around.
Over the curve, through the fields, into the house of Mary.
That what you fear the most could meet you halfway. (x2)

Take a bottle drink it down. Pass it around.
Take a bottle drink it down. Pass it... Pass it around. Pass it a...
Take a bottle drink it down. Pass it... Pass it a... Pass it around.
Oh, pass it a... Pass it arround. Pass it a... Pass it a... Pass it a...
Oh yeah.

Anyone who hasn't got the Live at Garden DVD, pls get the DVD to watch the way this song is delivered by Eddie with a bottle on his hand and Boom Gasper going BOOM with his jaw-dropping keyboard solo toward the end of the song. The best moment of the concert really. And best cover song by the best band in the whole world!

I'm a big fan of Pearl Jam and apparently i've had this song on my computer for a long time but never paid any attention to it. Listened to it today after some big bad news. Beautiful. Really helped.

Pearl Jam does Victoria's song so beautifully... I first heard this song on my honeymoon in Maui, and being a longtime fan from the Pacific NW, I was blown away. I have seen PJ many times, and even saw them play with Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr. as Mookie Blaylock before Ten was released when I worked in the beers Gardens at the Melody Ballroom in Portland Oregon back in 90/91... I got to see them play this Live with Victoria Williams, when PJ toured with Neal Young & Blind Melon during the show at Portland Meadows.

I love this song so much too! I live 4 hrs from Seattle and never have seen Pearl Jam live. I did once stand next to a guy who was on the phone with Victoria Williams.. As close as I got.. But this song Rules!

This is one of Pearl Jam's best songs. The lyrics and music just bring it one notch above the rest. A very uniquely written song that with the incredible music allows you to have a picture and a feeling of what they may be singing about. Thank you Pearl Jam.
