Lyrics - Crass Lyrics

When, in 1976, punk first spewed itself across the nation's
headlines with the message 'do it yourself', we, who in
various ways and for many years had been doing just that,
naively believed that Messrs. Rotten, Strummer etc. etc.
meant it. At last we weren't alone.
The idea of becoming a band had never seriously occurred to
us, it simply happened. Basically anyone was free to join
in and rehearsals were rowdy affairs that invariably
degraded into little more than drunken parties. Steve and
Penny had been writing and playing together since early
'77, but it wasn't until Summer of that year that we had
begged, borrowed and stolen enough equipment to actually
call ourselver a band....CRASS.
Having finally managed to rehearse five songs, we set out
on the road to More...

------ About the song Big A, Little A performed by Crass
this is still a call to wake-up and question the order you were born into. life is bigger than all that shit.
the comment on the social control function of religion is more on-topic now than ever imo.

------ About the song Big A, Little A performed by Crass
this song is so relevant, as "steve" said. it was true when it was written, and still is true, even if your not willing to believe it. violence does nothing, because they'll always be back for more

------ About artist/band Crass
Having read this biography of Crass, which i believe was written by Penny Rimbaud, it seems to me that although the band believed that after 7 years of dissent towards an unfair system that has bullied and killed the working class into submission, their shouts and words had fallen on deaf ears, i would like to say here that this is not the case, Crass and the bands that they promoted on their label had a huge influence on the youth of the day that hung on their every word, you just need to look at the amount of resistance that follows the G8 summits to see. In the case of myself it prompted me to question everything and read up more on social history, to make my own informed views, my views stayed the same, i became an Anarchist in 1978, i have stayed this way for 29 years now, their lyrics have only become dated by the names of the political leaders and events only, the message is still there, change Thatcher to Brown, Reagan to Bush, Falklands to Iraq... etc, you get the picture, situations and names have changed but the crap still goes on, and it is up to us as individuals to form groups question authority in all forms do not let them get away with bullying us into believing their way is the right way.
If anyone involved with Crass ever happens to read this, please believe your work was never in vain, you did make a difference and as long as we can pass our message to our children the movement will never die, thank you for opening my eyes and making my life richer with your music, the new friends i made and still have from the anarchist punk network and the rules that I have set to make the place i live a better one for all concerned.

------ About the song Big A, Little A performed by Crass
this is without doubt one of the most relevant songs ever written . you cannot deny any of the lyrics, maybe if you are one of the sheep you may not agree, but that explains itself.
relevant??? it is now as it was then, maybe even more so.
