The whole bombing would've been avoided if England would just leave Ireland, its not the 16th century anymore and whether you want to admit it or not the "royal crown" that rules the UK is just a figure head, the real stuff is done by parliment and ran mostly by the Prime minister of the country at the time. Look who was the minister when this happened, Margaret Thatcher a woman who let 10 members of the republic die due to starvation because of the withdrawal of the special categaory status which made the prisoners more like POWs. Before you start calling out who's good and who's bad why don't you do some research first. Yes it was a tragedy that those kids died but what about the 10 men who died? Then to top it off all Thatcher said was that it was a loss for the IRA

I think the song was written about a poo that wouldn't flush because it was massive. The poo stank and the smell lingered giving the title of linger. This is the most plausible meaning of this song so I giggle while singing along.

I love this song it not only speaks about the war back then but relates to present tense.Things happening today.The person who spoke about cranberries stuck in the past I don't agree with you.It's as though you're a zombie who refuses to open your brains to what's happening in the world around you.Rape ,burglary,murders,kidnapping, etc. are all acts of war on mankind and there are people who are scared to speak up,even government bodies who stiffle the rights of there citizens.Americans are lucky you can say and almost do as you please but you must remember not all other countries are fortunate as you are.People want change ,they want to move forward but there crys for help are just ignored, that dosen't mean they live in the past.
