This song is one of my favorite of hers... America's Sweetheart is a very good record of hers!

Firstly, I absolutely love this song, especially the "I don't want to die and I don't want to live" line.
I think it's a beautiful lyric and a beautiful song.

But personally I don't think it is about Kurt. It makes sense that it would be, but if you look at so many of her songs you could say most of them are about Kurt. I think this is just her style of lyrics as opposed to about Kurt.

She did say once "I haven't written the widow record, and I don't ever intend to"

I don't know, either way it shouldn't detract from a stunning record!

I really believe this song is about her feelings she's held in for so long about Kurt for all those years he's been gone.She never wanted to break down in front of everyone and just found another way to express her empathy in the lyrics.They're quite clear for anyone who is a true fan of Courtney and has an ideal image of what a woman she is to be that strong to survive as a widow for someone she's felt so strongly for plus the mother of his child.Plus the trauma of it all was exploited everywhere and she had no privacy for so many years to even mourn his passing properly.And she did not kill Kurt..Seriously?? That's all bullshit.He wanted to die way before she was in the picture but she so happened to be an important part in his life while his death took place.TEAM COURTNEY!!!

In my opinion this song has little to do with Kurt Cobain, or, at least, has as much as with Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan, Michael Stipe, and other male-artists with whom Courtney had an affair/close relationship. It's more about her sense of inferiority, of proving herself better than the "brilliant, talented" ones that, for one reason or another left her behind.
