Sum 41 Confusion And Frustration In Modern Times Lyrics

Last updated: 01/05/2012 10:00:00 AM

Up in smoke pop goes the culture
The tension blew it up
While choking from my bleeding ulcer
We eventually threw it up
So what went wrong?
Where's the voice of reason?
It's long gone, we lost it long ago
Apathy plus-sized filled the void of motivation
I can hardly breathe at all

Confusion's all I see
Frustration surrounds me
Solution's bid farewell
Sedation? What the hell

I broke the mirror to the past
to find what I was looking for
The bleeding heart of broken glass
is all I found and nothing more regrets
Short of no correction
Paid my debts to anxiety
The iron lung collapsed from the pressure and the swelling
I can hardly breathe at all

Confusion's all I see
Frustration surrounds me
Solution's bid farewell
Sedation? What the hell
[x2]

Dead end roads and warning signs
Destination nowhere in sight, so!

Divided we stand, together we fall
There isn't a god that can save us all
So don't pray on your knees
Just beg on your hands
There is no belief in this promised land
Divided we stand, together we fall
There's no god that can save us all
So don't pray on your knees
Just beg on your hands,
There is no belief in this promised land
There is no belief

Confusion's all I see
Frustration surrounds me
Solution's bid farewell
Sedation? What the hell
[x2]

from looking at lyrics in their past songs and their more recent ones from the album 'screaming bloody murder' its obvious that they do believe in a god, however they believe that for some reason god is either unable or unwilling to save us. its a strange way of looking at things but its a consistent theme in many of their songs.

they never said there is no god. they say there's no god that can save us all and really its true if you think about it. or you could stop being a freakin' moron and just listen to the song...dumbass

They are atheists? I dont think so at all. The songs express feelings and moods and this song is obviously about desperation. So what they really believe can be very different from the content of their songs, because they also catch up their bad moods, they hate themselves for, in their songs.

Awesome | Reviewer: paul | 5/4/10

What's with the comments? Jeez, they are self-proclaimed atheists, and that's awesome. It just makes me like them more.

The song is deep and awesome and those lyrics about god are true as hell.

Sum 41 kicks ass. Period.

they are self-proclaimed atheists, first of all. they've said this on many occasions in interviews and it can be found in their bios on the official fan site. Best of me is not about God, its a love song. the message in this song is that the people of the world are so blindly dependent on an artificial being that we're allowing freedom to be destroyed in our own stupidity.

it's not an Anti-God song or anything | Reviewer: Bianka | 11/11/07

they say there isn't a God that can save us all..they don't say there isn't a God that exists, it's just about we're in trouble, and we're the ones who can do anything about it, God cannot help anymore..i think they try to make us understand not to rely on other's help..but i don't know..i'm sure they believe in God, and that's not an Anti-God song or anything

WHAT? | Reviewer: unnamed | 10/22/07

this song is a contradiction from their song "best of me" which is awknowledges God. In this song they say there isn't a God that can save them. What?

wannabe's | Reviewer: blink182 | 8/8/07

this guitars and drums, the overall instrumental, seems TOO much like a blink-182 song.. just can't remember what music.
