is one of the more enlightened contemporary rappers,
proffering a heady mix of verbiage and syncopated hip-hop
rhythms. He made his debut in 1992 with Can I Borrow A
Dollar?, a series of tracts on consumer identity with the
occasional lapse into X-rated anatomical detail to make it
a hit with the hardcore hip-hop audience. Conversely, the
best song was "Take It EZ", a laid-back statement of
identity and individuality. By the advent of Resurrection

------ About the song The 6th Sense performed by Common
I start thinking, how many souls hip-hop has affected
How many dead folks this art resurrected
How many nations this culture connected
Who am I to judge one's perspective?
Though some of that shit y'all pop true it, I ain't relating
If I don't like it, I don't like it, that don't mean that I'm hating
I just want to innovate and stimulate minds
Travel the world and penetrate the times

------ About the song Sum Shit I Wrote performed by Common
(WHEN) I'm alone in my room, (SOMETIMES) I stare at the wall, And in the back of my mind I (SEE) a wack-ass rhyme. And I catch Alz-rhymers, then forget it, I get charged Like a nigga in position with the stolen card (A) credit
Sometimes I, or probobly "we", regres our choices, or some kind of obligatory choices of religion from our parents, neighbors and many other people surrounding us. Let me tell you guys my experience. I used to believe in Christianity, but somehow, I've been sitting at my sofa on Sundays watching TV. I don't know- it's maybe because some kind of religious belief inside me "shrinked".
After I listend to this-
I said "sorry god, I knew that I was doing something to be regretted later"
And I said "thank you god, for creating such meaningful people, whose lyrics make my eyes wet."
common truly defines himself from the rest in the rap game.this brother gave me insight into something i never thought of through the years.g.o.d was an eye opener the first time i heard it.a lot of people overlook what common is saying in this track.the whole album makes my day.
The lyrics to this song are so powerful you have to stop and think to yourself, "Is he really saying this?" I love Common and he continues to amaze me with his brillant use of the language and his awareness of his surroundings! We need more brothers out there like him that are uplifting our people and not making them look like fools! This is a beautiful song!
I have listened to this song for more than 12 years, but everytime feels like it's the 1st time!!...dmx with "slippin" almost had me fooled we were getting hip hop back, snoop totally joined the "ey" brigade(young jeezy et al)...dre promised us "detox" but apparently seems to have forgotten all about it!! Hip hop, where u at? We need you back

------ About the song The 6th Sense performed by Common
What a song, this is some real music...
I'd be lying if i said i didn't want millions, more than money saved i wanna save children, i wonder how this world would have been... That's some sick thang man...
This song is an astounding work of genius. There is nothing I love more than when a rapper takes the time to reflect on crucial societal issues that due to a feeling of powerlessness, some choose to ignore. As Blacks, we often undergo huge perplexities when it comes to religious affiliation. Speaking now, I have been in such a maze where I am bewildered as to which religion to follow particularly between Islam and Christianity. As the song suggests, one's historical and self-awareness is the focal point. Common makes the issue so simple as he says: "as long as you know it's a being that's supreme to you". Cee-lo brilliantly executes the last chorus of this song, so much so that it brought tears to my eyes the first couple of times I heard it. This is truly something special and the kind of hip hop that I will make sure that my own progeny are acquainted with. Thank you Common and Cee-lo.

THE 6TH SENSE REVIEW | Reviewer: Nathan
------ About the song The 6th Sense performed by Common
ONE OF THE REALEST, ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCEST ONE OF THE RAWEST TUNES EVER I LOVE THIS SONG! IT'S AMAZING ESPECIALLY THESE LYRICS:
"My life is one big rhyme, I try to scheme through it
Through my shell, never knew what the divine would bring to it
I'd be lying if I said I didn't want millions
More than money saved, I wanna save children
Dealing with alcoholism and afrocentricity
A complex man drawn off of simplicity
Reality is frisking me
This industry will make you lose intensity
The Common Sense in me remembers the basement
I'm Morpheus in this hip-hop Matrix, exposing fake shit"
I love this song because it points out so many things that need to be talked about. Black people can't always blame white men for our short-comings. Not to say injustice does not happen but if fail to educate ourselves, we are responisble for our own short-comings. Common is lyrically brillant and so is Cee-lo.
Im absolutly in love with common.... he's real yet freaky, deep yet kinky. And i like it... alot. If you reading this holla

------ About the song I Used To Love H.E.R. performed by Common
defines the meaning of hip hop. i can understand the anger from the west coast because what he says about it is true. they made hip hop about being gangster, getting drunk, and smoking blunts and other fake shit. im from chicago so this next statement might be a little biased but most chicago rappers stick to the real meaning of hip hop. unlike the south and the west. the east is on the line.

you already said everything: thats whats Hip Hop's about!
he did it with his Soul, thats the real rap music.
I thank God that brazilian rappers have this same felling Common have to rhyme. 'Cause if brazilian rappers starts to look like some mainstream USA rappers, mas, we'll be fucked up.
