Danny Says Lyrics - The Ramones

Review The Song (3)

Danny says we gotta go
Gotta go to Idaho
But we can't go surfin'
'Cause it's 20 below

Sound check's at 5:02
Record stores and interviews
Oh, but I can't wait
To be with you tomorrow

Baby
Oho-ho-ho, we got nowhere to go
And it may sound funny, but it's true

Hangin' out in 100 B
Watching Get Smart on TV
Thinkin' about
You and me and you and me

Hangin' out in L.A.
And there's nowhere to go
It ain't Christmas if there ain't no snow
Listening to Sheena on the radio
Oh-ho oh-ho

Sound check's at 5:02
Record stores and interviews
Oh, but I can't wait
To be with you tomorrow

Baby
Oho-ho-ho, we got nowhere to go
And it may sound funny, but it's true

Hangin' out in 100 B
Watching Get Smart on TV
Thinkin' about
You and me and you and me

Danny Says song/lyrics | Reviewer: Black Punk Charlie of Nunhead | 3/25/13

A truly great song from a truly great band.
I've loved The Ramones for years (since 1978) and have all their separate albums on vinyl and of course the brilliant It's Alive.
Anyway as for Danny Says it's a truly great song which sounds great when played loud.Especially when it modulates (goes up a tone to F#)and Joey starts singing "Soundchecks at 5:02" etc.
I was listening to it on the 345 bus from Peckham to Brixton on Saturday just gone.
Yep a truly great song and the albums pretty cool as well, taking into consideration Phil Spectors muddy production but hey that's Phil Spectors style ,as heard on bands like The Ronnettes,
The Shangrillas etc etc.
Hey Ho Let's Go.
Always.
Charlie :-) :-) xxx

Truly Moving | Reviewer: Litmussticks | 10/28/12

I hadn't heard this for a very long time until it crept up on me on my iPod while shuffling through some tunes. I was struck by how eerily moving it is. Joey subtlety pulls out an achingly pure vocal against a fantastically well considered backdrop. It's not the usual "Gabba-Gabba-Hey" Ramones but that's no bad thing. It's one of the finest, most surprising songs I've heard in a very long time and I challenge anyone not to be moved by it. Wonderful stuff.

Underrated and fucking awesome. | Reviewer: Tom O'Bedlam | 4/16/12

I think of End of the Century as The Ramones' most controversial album as it divided Ramones fans like no other. It marked their most blatant attempt at having a hit record, with legendary psycho producer Phil Spector, their tunes reached a new level of pop savvy-ness that they had previously never tried or would ever try to achieve again. Commercially the album flopped, like all Ramones albums, but with a band where consistency is the greatest virtue, End of the Century was unique.

That being said, I fucking love End of the Century. I think it combines the best of punk (The Ramones' previous four albums) with early/legendary early rock and roll girl groups that Spector was known for in his heyday (The Ronettes, etc..).

With THAT being said.. I fucking love the song Danny Says. I don't know why I like it so much, I can't really articulate the way it makes me feel when I listen to it, all I know is that any time I hear Danny Says, I turn up the volume and wish that the Ramones were playing the song in my room (a la Rock'n'Roll High School).

I guess since this is a lyrics website I'll say that the lyrics are fucking awesome.
